Got an email with an update. Basically saying we can’t decide about you now. We want to see your mid-year grades so please upload when you have them into your portal and we hope to decide no later than early April. Is this something Delaware does? Is this basically a deferral? Better than a flat out no but we are just a little confused. Also his school is trimesters so what exactly are mid-year senior grades? Anyone on here with any insight about this? Thanks

@LaxMom2025 My D received the same letter. I know that almost 70 students from her small HS applied to Delaware so I wasn’t surprised when she received this letter. Delaware is my daughter’s 1st choice so she’s planning on continuing to work hard. She’s still waiting on other schools, many who she probably won’t hear from till end of January. I think this strategy gives school more time to see who declines their offer. Fingers crossed it all works out.

My older son (currently a sophomore at another school) received his UD acceptance the first Friday of November.

My younger son (currently a freshman at UD), received his decision the third week in November last year. He and a classmate were the first of a few students at his school to receive their acceptances and ultimately enroll. The others received them over the course of the next couple of months, with one friend hearing sometime in later January. UD definitely rolls out decisions over many weeks.

Did anyone receive an acceptance today? My sons is still “under review”.

Still under review :frowning:

So it’s basically a deferral but with more explicit instructions? Also idk what midyear grades means contextually bc my child’s school works on a trimester system so his next set of grades don’t come out til first week of March. Hard to interpret.

I think they’ll keep rolling out decisions throughout December and some in January

My DS got the “you need to submit mid year grades response”. Had applied in late September.

Does your son’s school use a semester system or trimester? My son’s uses trimester so there are no real mid-year grades and his school sent all colleges his fall grades so idk what they’ll want to see. I guess he should ask his counselor??

Also, is it safe to assume that the school sends plenty of full-out deny letters to EA applicants? Just to have some idea as to “how real” the deferral is in terms of there being a somewhat decent shot they can still end up admitted?

We still have lots of places to hear from but we liked the school a lot and while this is far from a yes, we just don’t really know how to gauge this response from the school. Back in the day, some other colleges used deferrals as a way of “gently” denying admissions to some students.

Four semesters at my son’s HS. So he will need to send mid year grades in around February after mid terms.

So is that some sort of unofficial mid-term report at your child’s school? My son’s school sent out fall trimester grades already to all schools … they don’t really do a “midyear” grade so I guess maybe he should have them send mid-winter trimester report which would be something they don’t normally send to schools, followed by winter trimester final grades when they come out in the end of Feb/beginning of March?! It’s a little confusing for us.

I remember seeing mid year grades being requested in last year’s feed…several for Business. Is your son a Business major? Could be common for this major.

Sports management i think is what he put on the application.

Sports Mgmt is part of the Business school

lol I had no idea

For those that go the mid year grade request, may I ask your stats? My daughter is still waiting. She applied for Marine Science.

My child was not high stats. B+ average. And test optional. Out of state.

Applied RD to History/CJ in late October. My application moved to under review in early November.

GPA 3.0 and slowly increasing, explained this in a self appraisal. Solid ECs and essay about growth.

Do I have a chance?
