Anyone know when DU releases RD decisions?
I have seen by March 15th but I can’t find that date on the website
Just saw on their IG that decisions are coming tomorrow afternoon.
Saw that, too. Are those all RD results?
Yes. RD results came out last night
Daughter accepted with Dean’s Scholarship. This school is near the top of her list but even with that scholarship it comes ~$10k higher than we can afford but we’ll see. Planning on visiting during spring break in March
We are doing a tour next week. Anything that is suggested to see that the tour may skip? Really want to get a vibe of this school as my D24 has this and 2 other schools all in first place.
Thanks in advance
I would say enjoy the city of Denver, if you haven’t been. Check out Union station, Laramie square, LoDo. Campus is nice, area just by it is so-so but ten minutes away are tons of great neighborhoods, etc. that’s what we liked, how easy is it to enjoy the rest of a really great city
Thanks. We will pop over to the city but I have been many times over the years so sort of have that covered. Will check out some nearby neighborhoods.
Does anyone know if we can check out the dorms during a tour. Heard that they show you the newer dorm but would like to see the others
We were allowed in lobby of Dimond, that’s a new one and amazing. But that was before she was admitted, would hope admitted students could get a little more access. Make sure to see rooftop of dining hall too
Just did a tour yesterday. Overall, decent. Went into the lobby of the new dorm but no chance seeing a dorm room.
Overall my daughter liked it a lot. A designated campus with lots going on in the surrounding area which she liked. Campus is set up nice with sports on one end and academics on the other end, more or less. Hockey arena, dining hall roof top, library and most of campus a plus.
School is on the quarter system which is fine but a little odd
A few strange things we encountered. Not a make or break but interesting:
-
don’t truly have an unlimited meal plan where a student could technically go to a dining hall 10 times in a day. Also, dining hall is not set up where you swipe to get in and then get what you want. A student needs to swipe at the end of each station but each station counts as a swipe.
-
have to pay for laundry. First of 17 schools that requires that and for the tuition you’d think that would be free
It’s definitely on daughter’s top of the list but unsure if it’s worth the price tag
Journey to DU emailed a schedule to admitted students for this weekend. All 3 first year dorms will have tours. Also classes, sessions, lunch, student panels.
Yeah…we are aware of the admitted students day this weekend but coming from North Carolina we could only make it out during the week. Ours was a regular type of tour that had a mix of admitted students and interested so no dorm room tour.
Good that admitted students will get a chance to see an actual room
Anyone do the Journey to DU admitted student day last weekend? How’d it go?
My son has narrowed down his choice to DU or one other school. Can anyone provide their comments on why they chose DU? He has seen it and loved the campus. We did not go into the city of Denver which we regret now. I think the biggest thing holding him back is he wants engineering and is scared that there is not much focus on engineering.
