University of Florida Class of 2028 Official Thread

We are OOS and have registered for the 2 hours Admitted Student tour. Any advice on what this tour will encompass and what might be missing? We would like to explore the graduate placement opportunities for both finance and Bio majors. Will we have a chance to meet any major specific advisors or students? Also, will we have a chance to peek into some of the dorm buildings? Thank you.

You can schedule a tour of the college of business separate from the admitted students tour: Schedule a Tour | Warrington Diplomats | UF Warrington

Thank you!

Study Edge is $50 per month for the basic plan and $75 for the higher plan. The basic seems sufficient. Not sure how much Smoking Notes is, my son’s roommate pays for that and they share the services

They have a sample room at Jennings that they let you go to see during the admitted students tour

years ago I used to buy the notes (put out by a TA in the class) in bio-psychology. It wasn’t an area I was majoring in and didn’t have a deep background in it. I liked the notes because during class I was very busy writing down everything and there were a lot of drawings to copy too and I’m terrible at drawing. I think they were $2/class and in those days it was a lot of money but I thought it was worth it, sort of like buying books for the class. Today if I were taking the class, I’d probably hope it was available online and rewatch the lecture a lot.

You don’t have to pay for the extra tutoring, but it is a convenience. You can go to office hours with the TA or form your own study groups.

The room at Jennings is available even if you’re not on a tour. My son and I were able to walk in and get a tour. There are signs in front of Jennings that point the way for you to find the room.

Yes I was going to suggest that if it isn’t included in the regular admitted students tour anymore

I have a housing question. We paid the $25 fee in September and signed the housing contract last week. Which date is used to determine your room selection time - September or March?

September - the date of the $25 deposit

Do you know what is happening tomorrow housing wise. The housing portal says tomorrow is the next thing.

Not entirely sure. I haven’t signed the contract for my daughter yet - so I have not received any further information regarding housing. However, (from what I saw on Facebook), I believe tomorrow is the day when you can start choosing a roommate.

Thanks. I am just going to let them put me with someone, so I guess I don’t have that much to do tomorrow. The lack of information about the process is a bit frustrating imo.

Hopefully, tomorrow they will provide something more concrete - so I would still check your emails regularly! If there is any kind of roommate match system, you should look into it. Most people highly recommend not going random (though I know that there are successful random matches too).

Thanks! They did ask a few questions after the housing contract to help make a match. Hopefully they have a tool that uses that info and I will definently be using that if there is.

Tomorrow, you will get access to student profiles to search for a roommate, and then you will officially ā€œconnectā€ - agree to be roommates. You can review the housing options and agree with your roommate what you want. Then you have to wait until your assigned time to select housing (May). Whichever roommate has the earliest time will register/select for both ofyou. At least that is what I understand.

Thank you. That is so helpful!

Has everyone recieved their acceptance packets? I’ve got nothing from UF except a very nice handwritten note that came in a small envelope. Thinking my big acceptance packet got lost in the mail or something.

We got ours 2 days ago.
