Not sure if it was mentioned but does UF consider class rank? I have a low sat score but am Valedictorian w high gpa and great ecs so not sure how much that counts…
Do you ever accept students that tank the SAT but everything else is good?
Do you know when approximately tuition exchange decisions are released? Will they be released at the same time as merit decisions?
That’s good news. The website says “mid March” for scholarship notifications. First week of March is much better.
less than twenty-four hours
good luck everyone!
We do admit holistically so definitely if we see a reason, a student with a lower SAT/ACT score but who is outstanding in other ways would be considered. Remember the 25% of students we consider for admission are below the average.
Those go through the Bursar I believe so I do not know when they are released.
Thank you! I hope I have a chance !
I applied an engineering major at UF. if accepted, will I be accepted the major or general engineering then apply major after two semesters?
I wish I could transfer our deposit to you, I paid the $25 although there is like a 2% chance of getting in. The tuition is just so low, way lower than our instate I just thought we had to give it a shot.
My chances are probably not much higher tbh. We will know soon enough
I like the idea someone mentioned above of connecting with an instate florida student with a super good number.
If you are admitted to the university then you can be in any major you want so long as there isn’t an audition. You just need to keep up with the tracking courses and GPA to stay in the major.
Yeah, I do know someone that is also going to UF (if he gets in of course) so I might try and figure out something with him. He already put the housing thing down, but he has less of a chance than I do. So unless they are heavily recruiting from our area, it probably won’t work out. But in any case, i’m fine with off-campus housing. Seems like there is a wide variety of options at several price ranges.
@Melissa96 Apologies if you already answered this, but will admitted stats be avaliable in the morning like FSU.
Not sure if you are referring to housing, but if so - is that how housing works at UF? I know that at FSU if you are planning on rooming with someone in particular they use the highest (i.e. the worst) lottery # among the two roommates to determine housing assignments. So even if you have a really good #, and your intended roommate has a horrible #, you are stuck with the horrible #. But I guess at UF, they pick the best # among the roommates for purposes of housing?
I think someone upthread said that is what their son did last year. I haven’t gotten that far into the details myself because it is realistically probably not a great use of my time- but I could be wrong and could be surprised tomorrow.
Good luck - it’s such a crap shoot. At my daughter’s high school, I saw kids with a 1540 and 4.6 get rejected; and people with a 1400 and 4.2 get accepted. So hard to figure out how things will pan out even with the good stats.
No, the stats aren’t released that quickly
College admissions is like preparing a buffet. You don’t want too much of the same thing - grades/stats/ECs etc. It’s painful when it’s your kid and on paper, they are a perfect fit, but the school decides to go in another direction.
