University of Florida Class of 2028 Official Thread

What did your son like about the school during his first tour?

Thank you for that info regarding Jennings Hall. I just looked at the UF website and see that Jennings has a showroom to see on a walk-in basis M-F. My husband is bringing her, so I’m passing along that information!

Can people tell me some of their expereinces with UF housing along with which building they were in? I’m working on figuring that out for myself so I know which ones to target.

I’m wondering the same thing. We will be down there the week of March 25, during our spring break. Was able to sign up for an admitted student tour but no Florida Day scheduled for that week.

A lot of freshman live in the Broward area centrally located by classes etc
Graham area is located closer to union and Fraternity row if you plan on rushing
Both area are close to dining halls
Most dorms have communal bathrooms it is what it is
There are some apartment style dorms like Beatty that have freshman in them and they have a kitchen
Keys are apartment style

I would check out the OOS LLC in Broward as well

There is also a first gen LLC in the Murphy area nice location

Thank you for all of this. It is so helpful. Do you know if it costs extra to live in a LLC? I’m going for lowest price possible.

Does anyone know if the student housing agreement that opens later today will require you to choose the residence halls you want?

I believe it is the same price as a non LLC room in that particular dorm
Your least expensive option will be a triple ( not available in all dorms)
Available in Broward so may be available for OOS LLC

I did the honors information session/tour a few years ago with my son. I will be going with my daughter in April mostly to see the new honors dorms. It should be helpful to you and the question/answer opportunity with the lead of the program and the luminaries. They may give you insightful information.
Daughter registered for the tour using the accepted students tour link and logging in -
https://my.admissions.ufl.edu/account/login?r=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.admissions.ufl.edu%2Fportal%2FASE

Then she had to click directly on one of the 6 honors dates (3/6, 3/19, 3/26,4/2, 4/10 or 4/17) to register for the honors tour.

Is there any difference between the Admitted Student tour and the regular visitor tour? My son did a tour in the Fall and really liked it, but might want to take another look at campus. Would Florida Days be better for the second visit?

@Melissa96 : I thought the admitted students tour events won’t be released until this Thursday. Are they out already? Could someone please post a link here? Thank you so much.

There was a link in a welcome email that came out on Monday, early evening.

You have to scroll pretty far down. There is a tab called Newly Admitted Student Events, or something like that.

Thank you so much!

Of course!

when did you apply? my son applied in December and still waiting to hear

The priority application deadline was November 1st and decisions were released on February 23. Any application submitted after November 1st is reviewed on a space-available basis. Given UF’s popularity, late submissions shouldn’t count on getting admitted.

Yeah, he missed the dealine but I assumed that they are taking more applications because it’s a possiblity.

@NellieBelly

Yep. Someone said they only took 3 people last year space avaliable. If you are not in already, it’s probably not happening this year.

The housing thing is now open, so you can sign the agreement and fill out the roomate matching survey now. Next step after this is not till 3/13.

For the housing agreement - am I reading it right? If you cancel by May 1st (i.e. end up not committing to UF) by then, you are charged a cancellation fee of $225 if you sign the housing agreement? Is that right? I thought that at the most, you would only lose your $25.00 housing deposit?
