That is how I interpret it. If everyone is filling this in now, where does the $25 priority fee we paid come in? Do those who paid the priority get the first shot at selecting rooms on March 31st? Is there a day/time stamp for those who paid $25, or is it a “free for all”?
I read somewhere on their website that the fees for freshman don’t start untill after 5/1. The 225 is for somphmores and higher.
Did you see something in the contract that specifically specified that the fees are referring to sophomores or higher? I sent a message to housing so hopefully they will confirm one way or the other. It’s just that at this point, we haven’t even seen the campus yet.
I saw that it did not apply to freshman, but I can’t find it again. Let us know when housing responds plz.
Please wait. I’m not sure but think I read there would be no cancellation fee but don’t know end date.
Is there any benefit to signing the housing agreement today, or can we afford to wait a week or two?
I don’t think there is a benefit.
Just received a merit scholarship OOS of 6k/year!!
Oh wow- congrats!
Does anyone know what the OOS acceptance rate was for this cycle? I keep seeing conflicting information.
This is really heart breaking. Really sorry to learn that despite all this great work UF decision was not as expected. I have read from the posts that UF does a holistic review of applications and your student’s profile, from how you’ve described, looks really Ivy League. Hope everything will work out in the beginning. One thing that I have read time and again on these threads is that regardless of the decision, UF is one of the best public universities and is very highly ranked globally. It has a solid emphasis on leadership and academic excellence. We were amazed to review the research opportunities that UF offers, and always wondered if local HS students who participate in DE courses will have an advantage when it comes to admissions. Apparently no. Additionally, it’s one of the best returns on investment, particularly for in state students. In fact, for Florida residents, UF is a great blessing. I feel sad that despite being a Florida resident, you will need to consider OOS situations elsewhere. Hope the waitlist situation will also resolve soon and for those on the waitlist they will finally be able to join this excellent school. Overall, heartbreaking news for individual cases but UF remains a top choice for many OOS.
After you posted, my daughter told me she got a merit as well (not as high as yours - but we’ll take it since we weren’t expecting anything at all) - $4k a year!
Your selection for this award is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and academic achievements.
Congratulations!!
Not all are so fortunate. There are cases where kids have done massive DE courses and ECs and leaderships etc., are in state, and yet could not get in. One poster has shared their detailed story somewhere on this thread with multiple posts. A good reminder that it is not an easy school to get in. Getting merit on top of it is simply awesome. All the hard work, it pays in the end. Literally too.
Celebrate your grand success, and thanks for sharing this amazing news. It gives me hope that meritocracy exists and UF supports it. Wow!
Did this come in your students gator mail or in the portal? Or regular email?
Student’s regular mail.
I don’t think that that data is public yet. Everything else is mere speculation including some posters’ comments that there was a surge in applications this year particularly OOS. I also read somewhere that international applications are up significantly. Not sure if this is because of the climate crisis or the ongoing situation in Europe and other parts of the world where daily lives have been disrupted and kids want to create a future for themselves by pursuing excellent schools like UF. Overall, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if someone said the OOS acceptance rate this year was 5%, which is most likely somewhat lower than previously thought.
Thank you for your response! Do you know if data came out about OOS acceptance for last year? I was looking through the common data set and couldn’t find anything.
It’s okay to be careful with this.
Let me scroll up and find. One of the posters had put in the whole UF system view book on this thread.
