Melissa-- Just bc you are on the inside…do you have any info about conflicting info in the UF 2023-24 CDS regarding in-state/OOS application numbers and the slides presented to the Board at meetings during the year? The CDS indicates many fewer in-state applications than the slide did (and consequently many more OOS applications).

Adding the dates for visibility.

NEW DATES & DEADLINES

EARLY ACTION:
Application Deadline: November 1
Materials Deadline: November 15
Decision Notification: January 24

REGULAR DECISION:
Application Deadline: January 15
Materials Deadline: January 31
Decision Notification: March 14

Good luck to everyone applying. I can’t believe that I am actually arriving at UF in two weeks for college. It seems so long ago that I started my application lol.

I’ll have to look into it but there are definitely students who indicate they are Florida residents but after they are evaluated they are switched to non-Florida.

Hi! I’m an in-state prospective! Does anyone have any tips on the UF Honors Essay? I’m kind of stumped on the part that says “how do you hope Honors will facilitate your curiosity” or something like that.

The Honors program is interested in students who want to make use of their program to do amazing things - if you were admitted what would you want out of the program.

@Melissa96
I posted this in another thread but not sure if you will get that tag if you haven’t posted on that chain yet, so figured I would ask here too..please ignore if you see my other message
On Florida’s common app, the Academic subcategory, it asks to “best describe your ranking in your high school graduating class.” I assume if child’s HS does not offer class rank, that he should skip the question. Otherwise, he would be guessing?
And, for early action this year, will Florida defer to regular decision and ask more mid-year grades or will they just deny? He can’t submit mid-year grades because midterms won’t be graded and semester grades calculated until after the 1/24/25 deadline. Thanks!

Right if his school doesn’t rank then just skip - that question is used for reporting purposes but not admissions purposes. We do not plan on deferring for mid-year grades.

As we get closer to January 24th, will this be the message board where people be posting or is there another one?

I imagine 1/24 posts will go on the EA thread, not this RD thread, since only EA decisions will release on 1/24.

Thanks!

Can a student apply to the Honors program after an admissions acceptance?

You will have to wait till the summer after Freshman year to try the Lateral admissions process. That’s the only other opportunity to join.

Looks like early action this year was a bloodbath. Curious to see how bad RD will be, and curious to know any idea as to how they’re evaluating applications this year to discriminate between the surge of applications they got this year.

Applications are being evaluated the same, the early action group was done first and then regular decision.

Thank you for taking the time to respond on these UF boards. My OOS daughter was deferred and thrilled for the opportunity to be further looked at. How does it work? Will they reread the EA deferral apps again with the RD ones? I am just trying to understand if she has a decent shot at acceptance because if her app was not good enough for acceptance in EA, what would make it good enough in RD? Especially if UF also stipulated to do nothing further but wait.

Deferred means we need to look at the rest of the applicant pool to make the decision. If we didn’t think your child was competitive then we would have denied. I know the extra waiting is tough.

I agree. I applied RD because I felt I would have a better chance. I’m curious to see how the size of the RD pool (I assume lower) affects the admissions process. After seeing EA, I’m pretty worried!
