Good luck to everyone applying. I’ve been here for two days and already love it.

Female, 3.95 uw/ 4.5 w, 33 ACT, OOS, club and varsity sport is biggest EC

Looking for advice on their supplemental - since the personal statement is about the sport, would writing that the club sport was the most meaningful EC activity be repetitive? Maybe with a different angle? It actually is the most meaningful activity.

My personal statement brifely touched on the EC I used in that essay. I think if you have a truly unique and compelling new angle it should be ok.

@Melissa96 Can you answer a few questions? On the common app, the Academic subcategory, it asks to best describe your ranking in your high school graduating class, this question should not be answered if you child’s school does not do class rank? Because otherwise he/she would be guessing? And, for early action this year, will Florida defer and ask more mid-year grades? We can really submit mid-year because midterms won’t be graded and semester grades calculated until after 1/24/25. Thanks!

If your child’s school doesn’t rank then there is no benefit to guessing - that question isn’t used for admissions decisions - just for reports.

Right now we do not anticipate deferring a ton of students for mid-year grades.

Curious if anyone knows where on the portal you can pay the housing fee to get in the queue in case you’re admitted?

That would be in the housing portal. There should be a link to set up an account with housing in the admission portal though. If not, give it a few more days since it takes time for admissions to transmit applicant information to housing.

Saw this on the UF Reddit. If you already started your application, they are giving you till the end of the weekend to finish, even though it is past 11/1. Apply!

Interesting. My son applied end of Sept and we still don’t see anything in the portal linking to housing

Try going here: Obtain/Forgot Password | UF Housing Portal and see if the system allows him to set up an account using the email he applied with. If not, you should contact housing on Monday.

Thank you!! That worked like a charm. Just wish I had known that back when he hit submit  maybe our date would be better. Oh well. I really, really appreciate the info!

No problem! I’m sure you’ll be fine. I didn’t submit my housing deposit till the day decisions were released and I was still able to find a spot.

Apply 3.9 UW, 5.01 W, 1470 SAT, co-founded club, lots of team participation but teams never ‘won’ anything so not a lot of awards/honors in that sense. Anyone hear what institutional priorities are this year? Heard medicine fields perhaps. Also heard expecting to increase OOS from 13% to 23% which would significantly negatively impact our local FL kids, would like to know more on that.

FWIW, from what I have seen over the last 2 years, the 13-25% OOS target basically follows what has happened in the last couple of years, so it won’t reflect a big jump/change this year. DS is an OOS sophomore and his year I think they wound up between 17-19% OOS – I can’t remember now. And then last year the presentations I saw suggested over 20% OOS (maybe close to 25%-- though the numbers can change from even the June Board of Trustees meeting presentation, as students drop over the summer). The school overall remain much more in-state because of students admitted as transfers later.

Saw the same info from trustees meeting, that additional information helps, thanks!

I’m curious to see the presentation at the next trustees’ meeting in early December – to see how many students applied with the new EA/RD set-up and what else they share about application numbers this year.

So, if I get deferred… can I send in sem 1 grades?
