Did you see any of that information for this year? Wondering how many early action applications? Or any other information that might be good to know?
I did watch the board meeting last week (you can see the video online, with the slides, here: https://trustees.ufl.edu/media/trusteesufledu/agendas/2024/Website---BOT-Meeting-December-12-13,-2024-Boardbook.pdf âŠitâs the committee on academic and student success, starts at 1pm). I took a few pictures. These applications are through Nov 14, so slightly more than EA, but probably a close approximation. The presentation indicated that they were anticipating a very competitive class, like last year.
Thank you!
Wow! More applications that last year and still a month till RD app is due. Itâs gonna be a super competitive year.
Whatâs interesting about this to me is that the in-state/OOS numbers are not the same as those reported in the 2023-24 CDS. That showed the same total number of applications, but fewer in-state and more OOS. I could never get an answer why (of course, I only asked on College Confidential forumsâŠ)
Just to note: the number of applications from last year are also just through Nov 15. By the end of last yearâs applications, UF was just under 75K applications, if memory serves. I tend to think they will get more this year leading up to the RD application deadline, because thatâs different than basically saying if you get your application in after November 1, itâs not âpriorityâ â less pressure to get in by Nov 1 basically. But we will see.
Unable to load current application. Hoping that means they are working on updating the portals! 1.5 weeks until EA decisions!
When an application is submitted, is the applicant automatically considered for a summer start or any other alternative pathway (other than PaCE) in addition to the Fall? I did not see anywhere on the application to indicate that a student would take a summer start if not accepted for Fall.
Yes, UF considers for Summer, Fall, IA (if the student indicated interest), and the other alternative programs as part of the admissions decision.
Do you know anything about deferrals for EA? For example, will it be a small deferral rate?
We are striving for it to be as small as possible, but I donât have a specific rate for you.
Sounds good! Thank you for the quick response. Just to clarify, could deferral occur to see S1 grades?
We do not currently have any plans to request first semester grades for deferred students.
Getting excited for the decision release on Friday! Hoping there are no set backs or push backs on the date for EA decisions. Does anyone know what time decisions are released?
Seems to be 6PM EST based on last year!
What is the housing situation. Can you sign up even before friday?
We put down a deposit in November.
same.
I didnât even know that we had to. I just put it down now. We havenât even seen the school yet so hope we didnât throw our money away.
Housing priority is based on the housing payment date so if you child is admitted and wants to live on campus then youâll be ahead of everyone waiting on a decision before they put in their deposit.
