Sorry if this has been asked before- are freshman guaranteed housing?

No, not everyone will live on campus as a freshman.

no. and i was in the fb group for uf at the beginning of the fall 2024 semester and picking dorm assignments sounded like a nightmare.

For housing paid in Nov and thought the application was complete with payment but apparently there was a second button to complete. What are chances of getting on campus housing (assuming even get in) with a priority date of today? Been accepted to a lot of schools but UoF is high on list, but my kid type that needs to live on campus socially she will just do better.

I just saw the same thing. Not sure how I missed it.

Can you please explain what you mean by second step? My child paid in October (separate from app) after submitting application. Received an email at that time that the residence hall application to live on campus was submitted
is there an additional step required now? Or are we all set?

We paid the housing deposit in November. Received an email that we paid the deposit but somehow we missed the actual “housing application” which was really just a submit button in the housing portal. Saw it just now when it was mentioned above. I do not know how I missed it in November. Annoyed with myself to be honest.

I believe it goes by the paid deposit date.

Very good. I didn’t do mine until the day decisions came out last year and still got a spot. The people you hear complaining on Facebook about not being able to get housing last year are mostly people who did not login till weeks after their housing selection start time.

Heard on campus today that UF got 90.3k application for this cycle. If true, that would lead to around 16-17% acceptance rate if they take the same amount last year.

I applied as a Business Admin major

What are your thoughts college confidential friends

Do we think UF will operate similarly to UT Austin (defer majority), or reject a large percent of EA applicants tomorrow?

If you read the thread above, Melissa96 noted that the plan is not to defer a lot.

@Melissa96 How much consideration is given to the major that was listed on the common app? I ask because I recall reading that Florida does not admit most applicants by a specific major like other schools. I may be totally wrong or maybe it used to be done that way? Or if a science major was listed, such as Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, will the review take a closer look at the science classes/grades, or are is the review more general and not specific to the potential listed major?

Interesting this thread is not very active compared to past years. Good luck everyone. Hoping the speculation of lots of defers isn’t accurate.
