I just received info from my brother in law whose son is a freshman in Innovation Academy. IA allegedly just made some changes after people had applied:
During First Fall, A students will no longer be eligible to live on campus (NOTE: They can live on campus starting in Spring 2026)
During First Fall, A students will NO longer have the opportunity to take UF courses (previously they had the option to take up to 11 UF credits, online only)
During First Fall, IA students will NOT be able to use UF facilities, participate in UF clubs (including rushing/joining a sorority or fraternity), and will not be issued a UF ID and therefore cannot access campus buildings, purchase student tickets/attend sporting events as a student.
Essentially IA students will NOT be âGators from day oneâ, but instead will have to wait until Spring 2026.
Can someone confirm or disprove this?
Iâm new to the forum with a son who was deferred (3.55 uw/ 4.65 w, 1430 sat, applying to IA) so bear with me lol.
I do not believe they are, but cannot confirm. We were told the plan was for the scholarship committeeâs decisions to be made yesterday thoughâŠbut doesnât mean they are out/all out.
My OOS daughter has not received an email and thereâs nothing in the application portal - but when we log into the One.UF platform and click on 2025-2026 in the Financial Aid section, it shows Gift Aid of $2K/semester for 2025-26. So it looks like she was awarded a Distinguished Scholar scholarship?
ETA: Email found! Sent directly to daughter on 1/31, but went to the Spam folder.
S25 OOS also received the same merit amount of $4000.00 for Distinguish scholar waiver. Is the merit only for one year or every year we will receive that amount?
Just curious, if the student commit to UF now, can they purchase season student Gator tickets when they go on sell in March? I believe you need an uf.edu email account.
Hi. The biggest reason top scoring people with almost and AAâs get rejected from UF is that you are applying as a Freshman FTIC. All the extra dual enrolls and APâs work against you if you are almost at an AA degree. But you should apply for Spring Semester as a transfer and pretty much you will be a shoe in!
I have friends with kids at UF (business) and they tell me their kids do not have many in person classes. If a class is offered in person but also offered online, most kids do the online option so when they go to the in person very few kids are there. My oldest got in a few years ago but chose a different school mostly for this reason. I am honestly pretty baffled by UFâs reputation bc the online thing is very strange to me for a school ranked as a top public school. I say this as an alum (when I attended obviously nothing was online) I think people overlook it bc of brightfutures and many kids just prefer online classes for convenience. Itâs not for everyone.
This was absolutely our experience at my kidâs prep school this year . Uf only took a handful of kids and they were all 4.7+/1550+/35+ basically the top top of the class. It was clearly NOT âholisticâ lol Most kids with 4.5/1450+ and max AP (10) w tons of ECâs rejected! In the past the 4.5/1450 were a def in from my kidâs school to summer B and worst case PACE (if they chose pace major) This year was a disaster. Some very impressive students were flat out rejected. They are also clearly trying to take more OOS kids and their stats and applications arenât looking top top of their class to me.
Yes. My daughter started out as a business major at UF and had one or two in person classes the entire year her freshman year. However, she is now in the journalism and communications college and still only has some in person. She is in her second semester junior year and 3 of her 5 classes this semester are online so it is not just business majors. She likes it so it is definately personal preference.
