Seems like forever ago the deferral hit our house. My daughter is very nervous. This is her last school and her top choice. Things have not gone well this college app cycle for her so hoping for a good day!

We are in the exact same boat. Our son has been accepted to all the schools he applied to, but was deferred from UGA and tomorrow is the day…good luck to you. Hopefully we will both be happy tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck and I hope it works out for your daughter! UGA isn’t my daughter’s top choice but she was also deferred and I hope she’s accepted because I’d like her to at least visit the campus and consider. Stats and EC’s should get her in but as an OOS student, nothing is certain.

from the admissions page:
A majority of our scholarships will also go out today, and we will anticipate finishing the scholarship awarding process in early April. When we are done with our scholarship awarding, we will communicate by email that the process is done. During our final scholarship reviews and awards, we will be offering scholarships to a wide range of students who have been admitted during any of our decision dates (November, December or March). In addition, the Honors College is releasing their final decisions today as well.

So just looking at this 2023->2024
43700->43090 applicants
15340->15900 admits
So overall apps down, but there was a 7% gain in applicants from the state of Georgia which means the number of apps from OOS students must have dropped by a lot. I think that’s a great sign for OOS applicants.

Do you happen to know the % of those deferred initially who get in during RD? We sent grades but not much demonstrated interest other than that .
I really have no idea and I don’t think they ever have said. But I do know that UGA doesn’t factor demonstrated interest into their decision.

Does anyone know when honors college decisions will be released ? We are RD.
Today at 4:00.
Do honors students get priority housing or different dorms? Do any families who have kids at UGA have input on the honors housing? I have heard a lot of freshman live in the high rise dorms. Would you recommend certain dorms over others? Thanks!
