University of Georgia Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

That is different from what it says on the admissions blog. The frequently asked questions that are linked to the most recent blog post say late March early April. https://www.admissions.uga.edu/admissions/deferred-faq/

That is different from what is said on the admissions blog and also what David Graves responded in the comments to the blog a month ago - knew I had read somewhere they are eliminating the February decision group. This is what he said in the comments - “When we did the small February group of decisions, it would mostly be RD applicants (for the reasons you mentioned), and maybe a few EA students who were incomplete during November decisions. We are not having the February group this year as it is so close to the March one that we decided to merge it into the March final group.”

I wonder if they changed their minds?

LOL. When I posted that I thought I was in the clemon thread. Oops. Yes it will be March for UGA.

For deferred students, UGA wants to see fall grades but what if the semester report cards aren’t sent out until February? Final exams at our school in Michigan are the last week of January

Lots of good info in this thread!

My daughter was accepted OOS - English
4.0UW/4.9W no idea what here Uga calculated GPA was
11 AP, Rank 6 out of 505. lots of extras, varsity golf all 4 years, NHS, etc

It’s good to see that UGA continually awards aid. She’s in at Clemson and really likes it, but they seem to not give out much in the way of aid. We are out in NV. She has a full ride to University of Nevada and a bunch of scholarship money at University of Oregon, but really wants to go to school back east. We are still waiting to hear from VT and UNC. I’ve heard that VT doesn’t give out much. UNC is just very hard to get into. I have a feeling it may come down to Clem and UGA, depending on what/if she gets offered anything from either. Will be really hard to turn down the money at the western schools, but it looks like that’s where we are headed, lol.

Thanks for all your insights on this thread. We are fortunate that our OOS daughter was accepted! Do you know what stats/ECs are generally needed to be competitive for honors?

My youngest was admitted to UGA Honors with an unweighted 4.0, 11 APs, rest honors, lots of leadership and 34 ACT.

My oldest with unweighted 4.0, 6 APs, rest honors, weaker ECs, was not.

Both admitted EA to UGA.

It is the top 10% of admitted students, so certainly on the high end.

Where did you see that ? We looked again in our defer letter and it doesn’t say to do anything going forward ?

That is where I am confused as well. We didn’t see anything in our defer letter either. Our grades do not come out until February either.

Disregard.

Did anyone receive a letter in their portal inviting them to apply to the Honors program? Trying to see if everyone gets this.
The letter stated:
The Jere W. Morehead Honors College has completed its preliminary review of Early Action out-of-state applications and has made initial offers of acceptance to Honors. While we were not able to offer you acceptance to the Honors College following this initial review given the highly competitive pool of applicants, we remain impressed with your level of academic achievement. We would like to invite you to fill out the supplemental [Honors College application] for our further consideration

I don’t remember if we got but my daughter applied after admission and got in
so they do take more.

How many AP did you take? Their data says 9-12

Thanks for the response! How does your daughter find the Honors program?

We got that letter and wondered the same. I don’t think my kid is in the running for top 10% (GPA below 25%, test score above 75%). He applied though.

No, she doesn’t go
applied, got in, but UGA was the first of her acceptances (that were within budget) she eliminated. Just too big for her area wise.

She goes to College of Charleston
but she applied
after not getting in admissions and got in so you can definitely make it happen (at UGA).

Yes, mine got the same email. She’s still deciding whether or not to apply for honors.

We got the email too. My guess is that they send it to everyone.

Any chance you can DM me? I have a lot of questions about UGA/ Athens that probably don’t belong in this thread:) and you ah e a lot of knowledge! Thanks
