University of Georgia Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

I read your comments here and this really sounds like victim, blaming about running the same path etc. etc. just my perception

I don’t want to sound callous, but I wonder if this will affect yield and admission rate, given the timing.

I don’t think that’s how VirginaBelle meant it. the point is that calling this ā€œon campusā€ is a bit misleading. the area where it happened is nowhere near the area the students are. it’s about 2 miles away- usually a bus ride. I suspect most UGA students go 4 years without ever seeing that area.

Understood… But if someone came out with that paragraph about how my daughter ran the same route every day after she was murdered I don’t think it would sit too well

I am not trying to victim blame at all and I’m sorry you read it this way. She absolutely did nothing wrong which was precisely my point. Just like the child who is abducted walking home from school. The child did nothing wrong. The parent did nothing wrong. But you cannot guard against all predators, and this guy was a predator with an agenda. There has been a warning from the moderators to drop this topic, so I will, but wanted to clarify that because it has been absolutely devastating to the UGA community, those of us who live in Athens, and my child, who was one of the many who knew her.

Might I remind members of the forum rules: ā€œOur forum is expected to be a friendly and welcoming place, and one in which members can post without their motives, intelligence, or other personal characteristics being questioned by others."

and

ā€œCollege Confidential forums exist to discuss college admission and other topics of interest. It is not a place for contentious debate. I’ll add that posts asking ā€œwhy was my post deleted?ā€ will be deleted. It was deleted for not following the rules that you all agreed to when you signed up

I’m really unclear why I need to spell things out. I’ve linked the rules in my post above. The rules are self-explanatory, including who to contact if you have questions. This is not the venue for discussion of the rules.

Let’s get back to discussing UGA

Since I have been unable to post anything else, one last post in here. OMG isn’t our utopia just wonderful. UGA and many other campuses are just so perfect.

Is this better for everyone?

Not really. But since you’re leaving…

Does anyone on here have experience with the doubledawgs program? I’m specifically interested in the JD one. I would love to hear anyone’s experience with it to get a better idea of how it works and everything. This is one of the big reasons why I have not fully removed UGA from my list yet; it seems like a great program.

Admissions loves talking about doubledawgs! (a 4+1 M.A.). My D24 might consider it since she is in Psychology. The JD does sound like a great program but I don’t know much about it.

I’ll ask my kiddo and niece if they know anyone specifically interested in the DD JD. Off-hand our close family friends in DD are in STEM fields, but I will ask on your behalf.

Thanks. I really appreciate that.

I thought UF was a done deal!

It is, if I can afford it.

Did you get merit at UGA?

Yeah, I got a good amount.

That would be more than enough to tip the scales in favor of UGA, if it were my son/daughter.

Yeah, the rational side of me says UGA is probably about the same as UF, but it’s still super hard to give up a dream school.
