University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Class of 2028 Official RD Thread

I was “Offered Waitlist”, does this imply I was offered waitlist for first-choice and second-choice?

Hope that ultimately he will be able to attend. The statistic from this thread seems to offer decent chances: UIUC Class of 2026 Waitlist - #14 by RichInPitt

OOS,
3.92 GPA,
11 APs,
couple of research publications in IEEE conferences,
School club President/Vice President,
Decent Volunteer

Decently good resume, but there are many better-resume students.

I got declined from UT-Austin, but got into Wisconsin, Purdue, Amherst, UMD etc

If you were offered Waitlist, Second choice major, it would mean you were not accepted for first choice. This means you’re waitlisted for your first choice.

Ops, Much better things stored for her. Have faith.

OOS DS24 was rejected for college of eng
3.7UW (very advanced, college level coursework in extremely rigorous school)
790 Math SAT
760 English SAT
Multiple international awards in robotics, music; research paper, decent volunteering

Did anyone get accepted into the Honors program? Would it have been included in the offer letter?

S24 got into BioEngineering (OOS). How is BioEngineering at this school? What will be his options to change to other majors within the school of engineering?

See the FAQs. It appears that it would be possible to change to another engineering major, though transferring to some majors is very competitive and changing to Computer Science is not allowed. I don’t have any knowledge regarding the bioengineering program. Hopefully someone familiar with the program will respond. Your son may want to contact the engineering school directly to ask these questions.

It’s possible to transfer to other engineering program except CS in engineering school, but they can always do bioengineering + CS(minor)

According to the UIUC site, First-Year Application Dates, Undergraduate Admissions, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

“If you’re selected to an honors program or awarded a scholarship, you’ll receive notification after your offer of admission but no later than April 1.”

My daughter just received an email saying she’s been selected a Chancellor’s Scholar with the Campus Honors Program. It says only 125 students are chosen each year. Is that per college? Am I misreading it? I can’t imagine that that she is one of only 125 in the whole applicant class of 2028. Has anyone else received this?

This is for the whole university (my daughter was selected back in 2020), but I think they actually select more to have a group of 100-125, since not everyone they’ve selected will come to UIUC. Still, it’s very selective, congratulations!

I agree, but even so, wow. And thank you! Did your daughter participate and how did she like it?

She didn’t end up going to UIUC (she wanted a small LAC if we could afford it), but I know some students who participated. I think they liked their experience. It’s not a lot in terms of merit aid, but it offers other perks.
