We just received our Financial Aid statement today, and it didn’t include any merit scholarships. We are OOS. I know most schools are two steps: merit and financial aid, but in most cases, we have seen merit come in before the financial aid statement arrives. We know merit at UIUC is rare, but just wanted to ask if the timing now means we shouldn’t expect anything? My engineering student kid has merit from UVA (Rodman), Purdue, UF, and UMD, so no merit from UIUC would probably take it off the table because the cost differential may not be worth it.
From what I’m seeing on Reddit, merit awards, while rare, can still be coming in March.

Someone on the facebook parents page said only 10% of students get merit awards.
My daughter got a partial award a couple of weeks ago but it’s specifically for in-state students.
The poster didn’t break it down but there is definitely a lot more merit funding for instate. Together with need-based aid, it seems they look after instate students pretty well, which is as it should be. Appears that most OOS students who get university-level merit get $2k, though I believe some departmental awards are higher.
A few people have also noted that while incoming awards might be low, there are a number of especially departmental scholarships current students can apply for and some people report getting more funding as they progress through their degrees. Obviously, not something you would want to rely on.
This was a reach for my kid so we are not expecting or even hoping for any merit.

Has anyone admitted in EA received an admitted student mailing yet (congrats letter, stickers, etc)? Still waiting here in CA…
Yes, we are also in CA and my D received a mailing with stickers, letter, etc. Not sure exactly how long ago (I don’t bring in all the mail, I just noticed the envelope in her room) but it was at least a week.

Yes, we got it maybe a couple of weeks after admission? Student also got swag from FAA department (that came first). Also CA.
