Did anyone’s kid encounter this problem? My son submitted his common app on 11/01 at 2am (staying really late to finish the app) and just submitted his SRAR today (11/02), but his status now shows complete and will be considered for regular decision. Why? There is even a box when he signed in to his MyIllini portal that says when apps are submitted by 11/01 and supporting materials by 11/07, students will be considered for early action. I might have to call the school on Monday, but was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue. Thanks

It could be a time zone issue. Was the application submitted 2 am on the morning of 11/1 or 2 am in the morning on 11/2. The deadline is officially 11:59 pm Central time on 11/1. Did your child meet this deadline or just miss it by a couple of hours? You can call the admissions office Monday and ask for clarification if they indeed made the deadline. If he missed it, they may not be lenient, but it can’t hurt to ask.

According to Common app, my son submitted on 11/01 at 1:45 am ET so more than 22 hours before the actual deadline of 11/01 at 11:59pm CT. He received an email this morning 11/02 about them receiving his application and asking him to complete the SRAR, and when he was done, his status changed to Complete for Regular admission. The deadline is for submission and not for when the college download your app, right?

You are correct. It looks like he definitely made the deadline so he should call the school Monday and have them change it to EA. Good thing he caught it.

Ok thanks! I will have him to do it on Monday.

UIUC SRAR question here if anyone knows (DS also emailed his counselor): there is a box to check if a course is “repeated”. DS takes chorus every year. But that’s not what they mean, is it?

This is probably the known issue for UIUC - it will first show as completed for regular admission but changes to early action within ~48 hours after submitting the SRAR. Have your son take a look again before calling. My kid’s was the same and then updated within a business day or so.

Does anyone know when EA decisions are made ?

Last year it was the last Friday of January (1/26/24). So maybe 1/31/25? Just guessing.

Thank you

Hello, my student applied EA for Grainger and all required materials were submitted, including the SRAR. He would like to submit first quarter grades. I assume the way to do this would be to update the SRAR with the new grades. However our school uses the semester system for the final transcript, and these are Q1 grades only. Can we still enter those? It seems like just emailing the report card to admissions as a supplemental material would be a mistake. As background, this is an all A student who got all As again, so it won’t affect his GPA, but he wants to show them that he kept up the high grades with the four additional AP classes senior year Thanks!.

Looks like they do not consider senior year grades for even deferred students. You can still call and ask as your question was not for deferred students.

Jan 31 is EA notification date:

UIUC does not accept/consider senior year grades for any applicants. (I have known them to at least accept senior year grades for denied students upon appeal.) Your student can confirm they don’t accept mid-term grades with admissions.

I have a similar question regarding admission likelihood regarding UIUC that I have asked on the UMich thread. What are the prospects for an in-state ( NW Suburbs big school) psychology major with a 3.71 UWGPA, 4.53 WGPA. 6APs (including AP Psych this semester and AP Calc A-B and AP English last two years) and 7 Honors courses. Pretty solid essays. 4 year athlete with club leadership and good community service. She is applying TO. However, she did not list a second major as she really wants to study psychology. I know that major is competitive. Any input is appreciated.

The website is under maintenance , does that mean that we can expect EA decisions coming in anytime soon?

Not sure which website you mean, but EA decision date is Jan 31

UIUC said EA is announced on Jan 31st, but certain majors may take longer.

Any idea if Engineering, specifically Aerospace, has ever stretched beyond the initial date?
