I have a question. Is anyone’s child having difficulty accessing their admission portal?
Ever since UMD did portal maintenance on Sunday, my child can no longer access their admission portal. Every time he tries to log in it goes to a password reset page.
There is also admission to Freshman Connection. I don’t know much about it, but I’ve heard it’s a good option for people who strongly want UMD but aren’t admitted for fall.
This for more for CS geeks here
Did anyone try open in Chrome developer tools and check the API responses after you login to app portal?
I see the LLC on the response like “BioFire” and Civicus , probably a good sign?
This makes me wonder if my son’s app will be considered EA. I think his official SAT scores arrived after 11/1 even though his app and everything else was in.
I called Admission office at the time because my D24’s score could arrive after 11/1. I was told that wouldn’t be a problem. They allow some time for the score to arrive (1 to 2 weeks). I was told no need to get rush service. Just request a score to be sent. As long as the score arrives before they review the application, it won’t affect the EA status. But in the end, my D24’s score arrived on Oct 31. So it never became a problem.
Someone posted above that a possible outcome is “waitlisted.” From my understanding, there is no general waitlist for admission at UMD. If you are not full-on accepted for Fall, you may be accepted for Spring (with the option to enroll in Freshman Connection for Fall). A FEW people accepted for Spring may get put on a waitlist to move to Fall, but the admissions people who join in the FB discussions say it is very rare for anyone to actually get moved off that “Spring to Fall” waitlist. So unfortunately, the 3 main possibilities at UMD are accepted, Spring accepted or denied. Any other option is quite rare.
Additionally, if you do not get into your requested LEP major, you will go into “Letters and Sciences” by default. Some of the LEPs are rather simple to transfer into after spending some time in L&S. Others are quite difficult/competitive.
Rare, yes. But it is a possible outcome and hence I listed it. Check their CDS.
The latest CDS shows 300 applicants waitlisted (but none was taken off the WL).
I am just clarifying that there is no waitlist that is for people who are denied to switch to become admitted. Only a waitlist for people admitted to Spring to be switched to Fall. This is per a direct conversation with admissions staff. If something has changed recently, I am not yet aware.
I just tried the right-click “view page source” trick on the portal, which for some schools shows an uploaded but currently hidden decision. But no crumbs whatsoever.
That’s not actually true. There are many schools that accidentally give clues ahead of time, typically when they start unloading decisions to the portal. For example, Tennessee accidentally revealed things early in the morning this year, and then around 9am, the reveal was corrected.
