@Mahvir06 calm down. this is a discussion page not a “diss people for asking questions” page.
This thread is a goldmine for marketing Valium
Not today, hopefully tomorrow!
This waiting process is going to put me in an early grave
I’ll speak for the minority here. I really hope we get an acceptance, but if we don’t, we have three or four equally good options. In any case, it’s not the end of the world. Good Lord, please have perspective, people. My kid will do great things, regardless. And so will yours.
But it is disingenuous of Maryland letting a few be notified for the terp bus tour then making the rest early decision applicants wait a week.
So a few kids this past Saturday enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience of being notified of their acceptance to UMD by the Terp Bus…it is a wonderful experience and I applaud UMD for the annual event. However, I think it is unfair for the tens of thousands of other kids who applied to have their decisions delayed by more than 5 days since the event. I am not aware of the internal/logistical processes that take place in the admissions office but it isn’t right to make the other kids wait so long when a lucky few have already been notified. Just my opinion…needed to vent…in the end I guess it is UMD’s prerogative…
Not sure who “we” is. The kids are the ones going to college - Mom and Dad just get to pay for it
Yes most likely everyone here has other great options, but a UMD acceptance would make the final
decision on where to go very easy haha.
Ohio State released admission decisions on random Fridays at random times Since mid November without any notice or email, with no rhyme or reason as to order of release and no e-mail notification until hours after it was posted on the portal and they still aren’t done or at least a lot of people hope they still have a chance this Friday. I think this is easy compared to the torture for kids and parents that OSU is top choice and some of the other schools.
@gustavofring give me break. It’s clearly a “we” for most of us. if you’re paying for it, especially. Which, incidentally, I’m not.
I wanted my daughter to go to Lafayette (My Alma Matter) with Mr. Horrowitz, but she wants to go to Maryland. I told her that I am enrolling her to Lafayette by Saturday if Maryland doesn’t come out so she would cry if that happens.
I’m a student, who is not accepted into a school. Maryland was my only EA so I’ve been waiting for a long damn time. Just please Maryland, let me know dog.
@richrhk Ohio state is rolling admissions.
@BrielleNJ it’s pretty bold to assume we al have three or four backup options. I was deferred from my EA reach and match schools, so the prospect of getting into a single school right now is a little nerve wracking.
As it relates to the comments about parents (sometimes) being the ones paying for college…5 years ago when we went to orientation for my first child to go to college, we were informed by the university (not UMD) that, as parents, we were “authorized payers.” Since then my husband usually refers to himself as the “authorized payer” throughout the college process, as we are about to launch our last child off…
I love it. “Authorized payer”. My daughter just added that as a nickname for her fathers contact in her phone
Thanks for the chuckle.
@richrhk I agree. Waiting for OSU as well. Pretty nerve wracking. My DD has been last wave at every school she applied to…1 acceptance and 4 deferrals. I’m counting on OSU or UMD to give her at least 1 more definite option.
@jmsstb what school was your daughter accepted into and deferred by? Out of curiosity
