- girls basketball my sophomore & junior year, rookie of the year award, co captain my junior year
- had a job at Wegmans my sophomore year & working at Dunkin donuts from 11th-now
- national honor society, science national honor society, student government class senator & executive board secretary, National Healthcare Association (NHA) Certified Medical Assistant, National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All American Cheerleader
- applied major: chemistry
- strong personal statement about overcoming micro aggressions & racism that I faced due to my dark skin, which lead me to a traumatizing decision of bleaching, explaining how it tore my skin & confidence apart but In the end it taught me to love myself more & you know other good stuff
I feel like I am a strong well rounded student but scared by SAT scores is what will set me back, any thoughts?
@jhmoney I have no idea. I think she would have had a better shot at any of the schools if she wasn’t majoring in engineering. So competitive at all of the schools she applied to…
Both of my brothers went to UMD will this give me a bump in admission?

@ynwmic I think you have a solid chance. Your score is a bit low but everything else is really strong. You might get freshman connection which IMO opinion is a no brainer if UMD is your top choice. It’s a great opportunity and students I know that have done it have zero regrets. Good luck!

Whats meant to be will be, and at this point, there isn’t much we can do to change that, but I totally get the anxiety part, but I’m just trying to trust that everything will play out the way that it is meant to, and if i don’t belong at UMD then there is a reason for that
@kennyconway so true and that’s a really great way to look at it. I’d be lying if i said I wasn’t clicking refresh every hour waiting for that checklist to disappear tho!
