If a student is accepted as a Spring Admission with a Freshman Connection are they allowed to get sign up for Room and Board during the Fall Semester while taking the Freshman Connection courses? Does anything change with that process preceding the Fall Semester?

@Slvrbill - Yes, Freshman Connection students can sign up to live in dorms on campus (with meal plans) during the Fall semester.

Freshman Connection students get the same benefits for Room and Board. My daughter ended up in the mostly honors dorm so it is random where you get placed. You are not lumped together. Also some potential students/parents think there is a stigma about being in FC. I want to assure everyone that the other students don’t care. In fact other students try to get into the FC afternoon classes but they are reserved for FC students only! The only difference between Fall admit and Spring admit is that you have all afternoon/evening classes in the Fall semester only. Also FC is the last group to pick classes for Spring, but my daughter had no problem getting her classes.

How many of the spring admits apply for freshman connection?

With being OOS, a 96.87 GPA, 33 ACT (35 Superscore), a lot of ECs that I’m dedicated to, and a good essay, how likely is it for me to be accepted into the honors program?

Thank you all for the insight into the Freshman Connection. Hopefully my daughter will get in through the normal process but this option sounds like its still gets her to where she wants to be. Go Terps!!!

What are the average stats of someone bring admitted for the spring term?

It really depends so I can’t give you a definite answer but from what I’ve been seeing in past years strong extra curricular‘s help balance out weaker stats (in comparison to the other applicants). weaker stats (only from what I’ve seen) seem to range in the 1200’s. Gpa is harder to account for but I’d say probably around a 3.6-.7 uwgpa.

Ok thanks. My stats are around there so I’m hoping I can get in for spring since fall/regular term is very unrealistic.

When does everyone think decisions will be released??

@collegeperson20 I received an email from my son’s college counselor which said that not until the last Friday in January.

January 31st?!

@ncwj45 - I don’t know how many applicants were offered Spring Admission, but there were 1,028 Freshman Connection students enrolled for Fall 2019

That is my understanding. Just so happens that this year, January has 5 Friday’s rather than the normal 4.

I tried to look back to see when the last time the last Friday in January was on January 31st and that was back in 2014. That was way before there was a coalition app.

Found the link on this board to see when in 2014 EA decisions were released and it appears as though it was on January 31st.

If anyone else has any thoughts about this, please do share.

In 2014, My D got her acceptance notice on January 28. It was not a Friday

@SoofDad I hope it’s more like the 28th and not the 31st. Waiting until the 31st compared to prior years seemed a bit longer.

Does anyone know the order of consideration for secondary majors? I applied CS, with an alternate LEP of information sciences, and then an alternate non-LEP major of computer engineering. I’m not sure that if I’m not admitted to CS, which secondary major they consider for me next. And where does Freshman Connection fit in?

@Mahvir06 - I don’t know about secondary LEP decisions.

I do know that the decision about Spring Admission/Freshman Connection is made prior to the LEP decisions, but it does not preclude LEP admission

I would like to clarify the LEP and Spring Admission. My OSS was admitted Spring and at the same time was granted her LEP major. That was the reason she choose UMD and entered in as a Freshman Connection student.
