He can email ApplyMaryland@umd.edu and ask them to add whatever info he wants to his file, as long as he does so by 4 p.m. on 11/1 (preferably prior).

My D26 has some procrastinating LOR writers⊠(sighâŠ) One teacher submitted her LOR to common app late in the day yesterday (10/31), and common app still shows âSubmittedâ rather than âDownloaded.â The other teacher said she would submit hers today (11/1) to common app but hasnât done it yet.
Everything else has been confirmed in the terpengage portal long ago, so we are just waiting on these LORs.
Questions:
- If the first LOR was submitted to common app before 11/1, but UMD just took a while to download it, does it still count to complete an EA app?
- We know UMD only requires one teacher LOR, but if the second one is submitted on common app by 11/1 (and downloaded on 11/2 or whenever), will it also be considered?
It does take UMD a while to download application information, so the first LOR SHOULD be good, depending on how close the deadline it was submitted. The same is true of the second one, IMO, but mistakes can happen for info submitted on the deadline. Keep checking the portal for status.

Check SCOIR or NAVIANCE for your school - you may be able to see where he sits compared to students who have applied in the past to UMD

Any speculation as to EA decisions release date? I couldnât find what date they released last year.
Fingers crossed. UMD is a top choice for us!
My guess for the decision date is Friday 01/30/2026 around 4:00 pm-ish

Oldest daughter has already graduated from UMD, and my younger daughter is currently in her first year there. I donât have any more children to send them there.

A bit of good news while waiting for a decision. UMD has been steadily rising in the rankings. Itâs currently ranked #42 nationally 
, up from #44 last year and #58 five years ago, when my oldest daughter was first accepted. It was unranked when I attended.
Is it true that they admit about 95% of the class through EA? So RD is a heavy lift for most kids.
The basic answer is Yes, however I have not found any data provided by UMD as to the actual numbers admitted EA and RD. But this forum does have separate threads for both EA decisions and RD decisions. Last year, the EA thread had 898 posts and 36.4k views. The RD thread had 15 posts and 2.7k views.
When their AOs visited my daughterâs high school a few years ago, they said âover 90% in EAâ.

Iâve heard their AOs say that too. Itâs odd that itâs not in writing anywhere or in any of their data reports like the CDS!
When we visited UMD last August, they stated during the admissions overview that approximately 93% of the prior incoming class came from applicants who applied early.
