University of Maryland (UMD) Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

No mention of honors, merit, or other programs. Read a link in the checklist that states some of that info perhaps comes by March 1 for EA applicants.

Celebrate the win! It’s a Friday night - forget the rejections and be super proud of UW madison - you earned it!

1 AP Freshman, 5 Sophomore, 3 Junior, 1 Senior (all 5s)
99.44 GPA / 100. 1540 SAT
Kind of upset I didn’t get into honors. I think because my personal statement was bad.

yes i will let you know if i do! please update me as wellll

Of course!

what is the OOS CS acceptance rate historically?

It really depends on the program. I am in Global Communities which lives in Dorchester Hall, where I was last semester. I would say its a middle-level dorm. It has AC which is really the differentiator between “bad” and “good” dorms. However right now I live in Johnson Whittle, the newest building on campus, which houses UH students. This building is basically a hotel. Freakish nice and super clean and new. Other honors programs live in other halls, which you can see the info for on the website. Overall it’s a mixed bag. Some honors kids do live in the older buildings like Ellicott.

Accepted for Spring in-state, 3.98u, 4.8w. This is disappointing. My 2023 kid was accepted for fall with slightly lower stats.

No. Early March. Banneker Key invitations will probably go out in February some time because of the interview process. To qualify for an invitation, the student must first be invited to Honors. Scholars won’t qualify.

Scholarship awards, except for the B/K, are NOT associated with being in any Special Program (Honors, Scholars, etc). Most of the students in the Honors college do not get Scholarships

It’s just getting more and more competitive every year. UMD is not the “state school” it used to be. In my opinion, it’s true that in terms of applicants it’s becoming sort of a public Ivy. Congrats to your kids!

maybe they are releasing in batches?

UMD does not provide that data

It’s not “with no honors”. No one is given actual honors. Honors is just the name for one of the living learning communities. There are a couple benefits, but otherwise the same.
