S24, OOS applied under EA to College of Social & Behavioural Sciences (Economics major). The email received from UMass several weeks ago about decisions to be released on 24 Jan mentioned no defers. See text from their email below.
"All Early Action decisions will be released on the evening of January 24. Each EA applicant will receive one of three decisions: Admit, Waitlist, or Deny. Note: We do not defer any EA applicants to our Regular Decision pool.
When your decision is ready, you will receive an email with the subject āUMass Amherst Application Status Updateā letting you know to log in to your portal, so be sure to have your login information."
It is not perfectly clear what they use in terms of classes, they say āacademicā classes which seems to include art, but not PE or advisory etc. That is an inference though.
Thank you for sharing. We put in just the core subjects. Her GPA came up in their range. So hopefully she has a shot.
