To everyone who still hasn’t gotten an admissions notification this is what my admissions counselor told me.
Hi Ian,
Thank you for reaching out! You are still being considered for Early Action we just had a few students who for whatever reason didn’t process through with the initial release of EA decisions. We are aiming to have your decision to you within the next week.
I sincerely apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this has caused.
@field2life there isn’t one that I know of, but if you can find enough people to make one, I’d definitely like to have a group chat or something! I’m getting so anxious waiting for the scholarship weekend+interview!
I’m just a little frustrated at the lack of merit aid as Tulane gave me 30k per year. It is hard for me to justify going to Miami over Tulane although I don’t necessarily need the money.
@Mikemargo11 Same situation. Tulane gave me 27k either and while my family can afford UM without it why pay more? Especially because Tualne is equal to or surpasses UM depending on the major
It is almost impossible to figure out why some schools give scholarships to particular students and not to others, just as it is impossible to figure out why some schools accept who they do. My D received a very substantial scholarship to Miami and nothing from Tulane. I know kids who were accepted to Ivies and not accepted to University of Michigan. Different schools place different values on the different parts of a student application. Go to the one that appeals to you the most and makes the most financial sense for you.
@strafed for mikemargo11 it’s $27,000 per year more, thus $108,000 more to attend Miami which is not any better than Tulane for business. As a student planning to major in business, selecting Miami at a cost of at least $108,000 more would be a poor business decision. But if money is not an issue for that applicant, then it does not need to be a business decision and he can go where he would feel most comfortable–based on fit.
