University of Miami class of 2022

@NYsaxmom Thanks – we will keep checking tonight.

@NYsaxmom so you had two messages and a third one was added tonight? About what time? thanks

We didn’t find the acceptance in messages, but under admissions. Got the heads up from @SpartanDrew that scholarship info was on portal but couldn’t find it. She told me it was in messages, not in Fin aid. And she still hasn’t received an email directing her to look in Cane Link, so if it’s wasn’t for this amazing group, we wouldn’t know!

Son received email saying he had status update. Checked on canelink and he was accepted. FA letter said document missing but everything was submitted. Tried calling school but closed for the weekend.

Scholarship info finally arrived for frost people it seems. 30k a year, but not sure it’s enough to convince me to go. At very least if any BM clarinets got waitlisted, there will be a spot open!

@harmonicamess they always offer more than they want as they expect some will decline, but the money will go to someone else. Where are your top choices?

Did anyone who auditioned for Frost not play the piece prepared?

@Derwin I’m not sure what you mean???

I’m Absolutely shocked by the Financial Aid offer
Our cost is 35K more than was calculated on the university’s NPC. and their NPC is linked directly to the CSSProfile

Son was never asked to play his piece at audition. He did get accepted just wondering if that effected his scholarship. The day of audition someone filled in last minute.

@Derwin what did he audition for? D auditioned for jazz voice and the CAM minor. She auditioned with all 4 of her prepared pieces for JV and only half of a new original she had prepared for the CAM minor.

@NYsaxmom So far my top choices are Jacobs
at Indiana, Blair at Vanderbilt, and Boston Conservatory.

@Derwin, not sure what you mean either. My D was supposed to prepare 2 etudes, 2 solo pieces and 2 orchestral exceprts. All they had her play was a short part of each of her 2 solos, and she got a giant scholarship. I think they know pretty quickly as they listen to hundreds

D auditioned for bass. Never played the prepared piece. Did some basic notes. Completely different from Berklee auditions. He made both schools just surprised on how it was handled. One would believe you would actually audition for an audition for a music school . Especially after being told how imprtant it was and that you should also try to do it a Miami which cause additional expenses.

That’s really bizarre. I know a couple kids who auditioned on bass there last year. One is going there and one is at UNT. I can ask them if you’d like.

Thank you. That would be great!!

@GoForth can you comment to @Derwin if you can recall S’s audition for bass?

Are there any prospective or admitted student weekends?

@AcademiaSavvy I believe April 8 is an admitted students day

@jpjfnj Thanks! Do you have any links to that and how did you find out?
