University of Miami Class of 2023

Could my admission possibly be affected since i am late in submitting my financial stuff? they requested it few days ago. admission site says it was due 1/9.

@Snappy00 your admission decision won’t be affected

@Snappy00. Does it still show that you have a TO DO list for submission of financials? The list on my son’s Mobile CaneLink disappeared this evening but previously showed a due date of 1/9. I had already submitted the FAFSA and access to Tax Returns so I was confused by this ā€œTo Doā€ list.

My GPA is a 3.5 Unweighted, 3.85 weighted, 1330 SAT, top 10% of my class… My football team was ranked preseason #1 in the country, Led my state in passing yards as a Junior and was football team captain… Raised $20,000 organizing a phoneathon for a local homeless shelter and won my state’s Governor’s award for environmental excellence after raising $3,000 for a middle school and creating a sustainability program… I also did not apply for aid but will be in the Regular Decision round… What are my odds and what are some ways I can demonstrate that Miami is my first choice/is interest important in Miami’s decision making

3.86 weighted actually, IDK if it makes a difference haha

Oh also 6 AP Classes and 2 College classes, one with a Lab, sorry for writing three comments in a row

@KPSESQ Yes mine still has the TO DO list on there. Nothing has been removed. Maybe it disappeared because since you already did it they received it.

After calling and sending them an email with a confirmation of my fafsa from December it disappeared off of my to do list.

tdiemer: You say you are the Captain of the best high school football team in the country. Are you trying at this late time to get recruited for football? If not, UM might wonder why another college with more prestige hasn’t recruited you, but I think UM will accept you as long as you’ve demonstrated interest now and then on social media, have visited, and if there are no character weaknesses on your record or mentioned in your recommendations. Demonstrating interest is important despite UM saying it is only ā€œconsidered.ā€ This is shown in the very high 64% ED I rate for the Class of 2021. If you want to maximize your demonstrated interest, tell UM that it is high on your list or one of your top choices. Better yet, write that it is your top choice and if you are admitted, you will accept their offer. Students applying for financial aid can’t say that because they need to compare offers.

So does anyone have an idea of when it might be coming out and the times it does come out?

@tdiemer most polls had IMG or Bosco as number one. Interesting.

I called and spoke to them again…one person said last week in Jan…the next person said early February.

They said they release over a few days not all at one time.

@Mel711jon that gave me even more anxiety than I had before ahhh this is too stressful haha.

So if I am hearing everyone correctly us EA applicants will hear back sometime between the 25 of jan and the 7th of feb

Sorry! We’re all nerves here as well!

Seems like that is what they are saying for EA.

Better then two weeks into Feb. they released Feb 1 last year…so fingers crossed.

For reference…

Class of 2021 EA - Decision was released on 1/26/17 at 5:00pm.

Class of 2022 EA - Decision was released on 2/1/18 at 4:00pm.

@davidlt1 I go to IMG lol, look on the roster

@BigHerms I think the financial aid and admissions departments work independently of each other.

@meredith, Thanks so much and yeah I have other options for schools athleticly but I have a preferred walk on opportunity at Miami so like the football team can’t help much with admissions, I have to get in on my own merit, and I was captain of my football team Junior year before I transferred for my senior year
