My girl is in!!! Woohoo! She got the decision on Friday the 13th. She was ED1. So excited! 4.0 unweighted, 4.3 weighted. She applied as test-optional, even though her SAT was 1340. She wasn’t happy with that score. She also has AP classes, Honors classes, and Dual-Enrollment classes. She is majoring in Marine Biology and Ecology with a double minor in Theatre and Chemistry. Tons of extracurriculars, including 11+ years of Girl Scouting and all 3 awards, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. She has also been working since age 14, helping pay bills, and purchasing her own car. National Honor Society Treasurer, Spanish Honor Society, many academic awards/honors/pins/medallions, lots of clubs, and tons of volunteer hours.
Premier scholarships will be offered at the end of January. There are no additional applications to be considered for those scholarships.
Congratulations! My daughter is too! Where are you all from? We are in Virginia.
From Southern CA. She is also so excited!
That is great! Would be super cool if our daughters met up at some point! Are you all going to any of the events in the upcoming spring?
Anyone have the date for EA decisions? Is it still mid January? Thanks
I think it’s more like late January.
Invitations to finalists for the Premier Scholarship are sent out in mid-December.
Are the invitations are sent before EA decisions are released?
What I’ve seen elsewhere is that the premier scholarship invites are being released with EA decisions.
Kid got deffered, Miami is still very much 1st choice by FAR!! Also got into an early action state school, and I’m trying to encourage to at least start the housing process at the state school. But we are fearful that Miami might see that as a sign of lower interest. Do the schools really know?
Miami knows nothing that you do outside of them and of course you need to plan an alternative.
My daughter was class of 21 - all her friends but one got deferred and all got in with the same $25k merit the first guy got.
Fill out the form of continuing interest ahd move on. My daughter reached out to the admin counselor who was not interested. She said do the form and wait - that there was nothing else to do.
Unless it’s changed, deferral at Miami isn’t death.
Was he an ED applicant?
No, they don’t. It’s illegal for them to share. I would recommend doing virtual info sessions between now and then. That’s what I did to show DI and I got in. Just make sure you use the same email to sign up as the application since I’m pretty sure that is how they track it.
This waiting for Early Action results is brutal!
Just curious if anyone has received any notifications for premier scholarships yet (e.g. Stamps, Singer, etc.)?
Still no updates on when Miami EA is coming out? “late” January? Anybody have an idea when they have come out in past years?
For audition based music majors decisions came out the last Friday of the month in the last two years. But that was around the 26th so it could be the 24th or 31st
Did anyone here receive an invitation to apply for a premier scholarship? Based on stats was really hoping for an invitation but to date have not received one. Anxiously awaiting the EA decisions this month! I’m seeing conflicting responses about when the invites will go out. It looks like in past years they have sent invites in December before releasing the EA results but potentially this year the invites are coming out with the EA results. Have you received any further info on this?
Our son hasn’t received anything. We did get an email that they are starting to look at the FAFSA and financial aid information.
