@wheeley18 : I’m sure if you work hard you’ll do fine, I have a friend in architecture (freshman) who’s in the Algebra-based physics course and she has an A so it’s def not impossible! Just don’t double up on OChem and Physics and you’ll def be good
@gapyearapplicant That’s what I was going to attempt to do. Idk I’ll have to talk to my advisor if I get in and see what he or she says. I also have to take the calculus based physics.
@wheeley18 I’m taking calc-based Physics II right now. Physics at my current University is so bad because of how awful the Professors are (calc-based mostly). I have a B in the class right now with only the final left so I’m just glad that I’ll be done with physics so that (if) I get into UM I wouldn’t have to worry about it.
@CaliBoyDownSouth thanks for the input. I really hope I won’t have to take physics and organic at the same time. And apparently I have to take physics I, II, and III so I’m really looking forward to it.
@wheeley18 : why do you have to take Calculus-based physics? If you’re pre-med you only need to take the algebra-based version (unless your major requires it). I don’t know much about calc-based physics here. Just a word of advice advisors here are clueless LOL, they really don’t help at all. You should have a game plan before you come in and just “explain” it to them to make sure they approve (and they usually will unless you’re doing some whack stuff).
@gapyearapplicant As of now, Barbara Colonna and Vaidhyanathan Ramamurthy are scheduled to teach Orgo I and Vanessa Dos Reis Falcao is scheduled to teach Orgo II for this fall, and Ramamurthy is apparently terrible according to ratemyprofessor, albeit there are only three reviews.
@gapyearapplicant I’m switching to biomedical engineering which requires calc based. I’m not sure if I want to stay premed or not so that’s why I’m going the biomed engineering route. I’m
Going to cross my fingers for a good advisor.
I just really want the admission notifications to come out today
lol that’s all I can think of.
Is anyone else here a veteran?
hopefully we start hearing back end of next week or beginning of the following week!
@JAngel17 Nah, but thank you for your sacrifices and your service. UMiami is nationally recognized as an amazing school for vets, they accept a lot & they also have a huge student-vet center in the 2nd floor of the UC. Best of luck to you.
@ruizjeancarlo how long did the decision from FAU take
another week of waiting!!!
UGH
@byrd98 FAU - took less than a week for the decision to be posted to the student portal, but I got my acceptance package about a week and a half later.
Nova - took less than a week for my acceptance/financial aid/scholarship package to arrive which was surprising because the turn around time was quick and they’re very selective for decision.
FIU - took two weeks for a decision to post to the student portal. I got my acceptance package a week after that.
Only UM is taking super long! Hopefully we do hear next week.
Transferring from Pace University in NYC, still waiting to hear back from UM
@JAngel17 Falcao teaches Orgo I in the Spring semester I’m pretty sure. If I were going to take Orgo I, I would surely wait for Falcao to teach it
@ruizjeancarlo I also got accepted into Nova. Literally took less than a week lol
Do you consoder the business school at FAU good?
Does anyone have any idea when we’re going to find out because I need to make moves for next year already .
@etofueocacionah8 depends on your goals, but generally speaking, business is very prestige-driven. Even places like UMiami/Tulane etc (schools in the south that are good, but a notch off from Emory/Rice/Vanderbilt. In fact even those schools aren’t the best if you want to work in NY) don’t really cut it for things like Investment Banking… but again it depends on what you want to do.
