My son is engineering and it lists engineering first year on the right hand corner across from his name
Yes it seems that business, engineering, kinesiology, residential college and nursing all show up on right hand corner. I’m not sure about LSA which is the largest school.
LSA. Screen shot posted earlier this morning (post #325).
thanks! i don’t see where major is listed on the screen shot?
Mine applied poli sci but now shows as undeclared. Poli sci isn’t a particularly difficult admit (vs CS etc) so I don’t know that she would be pushed into undeclared. Maybe means nothing.
I can only speak to what I’m seeing on my son’s portal, but he did apply as a Residential College applicant which is technically a major unto itself and “Residential College” is still listed on the right hand side of his portal.
same here
But will some be accepted LSA - poli sci (or psych, bio, etc) and some LSA undeclared?
Unless Michigan LSA changed this cycle, it’ll be LSA undeclared, unless LSA CS.
IMO, Michigan’s admissions model is fairly predictive of where an enrolled student will end up for a major based on their preferences, academic record and other interests.
Thank you! It’s so hard to keep all the nuances of the different schools straight.
So with this color change, do you guys think decisions will be released tomorrow or next Friday? Would be surprised if tomorrow since it seems like it’s been the last Friday of January historically. Maybe they’re starting to update the portals really early this year. But it would be nice if tomorrow–next Friday is already full with so many schools scheduled to release their decisions.
Not sure where school of information comes in. They are one of the new preferred admissions now.
Info is a separate school like Ross or CoE.
Just checked my D24’s portal. She applied to Engineering CS. Now her portal shows Engineering First Year. This doesn’t look good. Pretty sure she didn’t get into CS .
My daughter is a prospective nursing student and hers looks like your child’s does with “fresh”.
Don’t they have to get accepted by college first?
Where do u see “fresh?” Also OOS Nursing…
CS is different. You need to be admitted to CS major directly. “If you don’t get selected by CS major, you might still get admitted into the school and can declare a different major after freshman year”. (Copied from school page)
Anyone applied to CS? What do you see in the portal?
I think it shows that (Engineering First Year) for all engineering applicants. It shows the same for my son.
I can’t remember–is Michigan like Purdue where every freshman is admitted as a First Year Engineering student and you don’t pick your engineering major until after a few semesters?
There has been no “proof” of a color change posted…yet. So anyone with an actual color change please post a screenshot for comparison.
