This is my dream school !! Thank you for all the help in this thread.
So for chancing it means nothing with 60,000 EA applications (my estimate). He’s qualified no question. OOS is always harder. “Best and Brightest”? Well that matches “Leader and Best” and hopefully it comes across in a good way.
Your compared to your own school. If your school accepts kids that actually go to Michigan then that is positive. Those kids get evaluated. If they do well then Michigan wants more of them. If not, they might take more from another school.
See above. Lol. Vals sometimes don’t do great getting into Michigan. Again, it comes down to the kids before you and if your school accepts kids for Michigan. Don’t be disappointed if your deferred. It’s normal. You might be accepted in April. Just do the LOCI form. It will say you don’t need to do anything. If a choice is given then send it in.
But… Hopefully you will have great news on Friday …
Quick question I’ve been wondering. So I have a much better superscore-1520- then composite score- 1430. I did self report the 1520 on the Common App, however, I sent my official scores too before I learned about what self reporting is so they can see the two official scores a 1430 and a 1420 that I was able to get a superscore of 1520 on. Would this hurt my chances? Thanks yall.
No. They take the highest score of each section. Also a lower score won’t be the reason you don’t get accepted. They evaluate your whole application. Your score /test is just one factor to getting accepted.
Chancing anyone without actually seeing the entire application, including essays, is difficult.
But without the mention of which school, LSA, CoE, Ross, Kinesiology, Nursing, SMTD, Architecture, etc. that you’re applying to, makes it virtually impossible.
Pretty sure our son applied LSA in Physics ( but not a 100%on the LSA part )
Unfortunately I have no idea what kids from his high school have gone to Michigan in the past as it is a decent size school. However we know that Michigan was a popular choice amongst his class to apply to .
I told him — you have done everything right and already gotten into several top notch schools a lot with full ride offers — you will be great even if Friday is a defer or no
The required supplementals and recommendation letters are important in the application process right? I know Michigan looks at everything but I don’t know where those fall on the scale.
They follow the CDS. But of course the whole application paints a picture of the student /brand. Then they are graded which is on the website somewhere. Then they are discussed. Then a decision is made x 60,000 applications for EA. Getting into colleges like Michigan can almost be luck these day’s. Don’t take any college decision personally. I know that’s hard not to do. But they are building a class and they have metrics to decide whom they want even though many many applicants can be identical.
Again, you are chosen and compared to your own school /district. But some kids might have lessor grades and stats but they get in. Hmm… Again, it’s the whole application that paints the full picture. Not just a few data points…
But… Being deferred by Michigan just means you might be accepted in April (or Feb, March, April for Ross). It’s a long ride so hold on
