Accepted OOS with a 3.8 UW GPA!
I know everyone says to say that but I’m sure they are of the belief that everyone says that to every school on their list.
I’d follow their directions. They’ve set a process for a reason:
- Submit the Expression of Continued Interest (ECI) form no later than March 8. Type any updates or additional information that you wish to add to your application in a free-form format by logging into Enrollment Connect, navigating to the action items section, and clicking on Verify Continued Interest. The Expression of Continued Interest form is NOT required for consideration in our process. Furthermore, no preference is given for the order or date in which the form is received. Additionally, please note that we will only allow for a single submission of the Expression of Continued Interest form, and you will not have access to edit the form after it has been submitted.
If deferred in EA with test optional, can a test score be added for RD consideration?
Talk to admissions about that. You can always send your schools AO things like that. But the question is why wasn’t it sent before?
A better test score was achieved post 11/1!
The only thing is allegedly last year some in state students knew before. Do you have any info on that? I believe I saw it in last years thread on CC too.
You are now RD. What’s the test deadline ? I’d guess that’s what the policy would reflect.
Specifically the school says:
Historically, many Early Action applicants who were not admitted in Early Action, and some Regular Decision applicants, attempted to provide further information about themselves after their application was submitted. But we did not offer standard guidance on how to do so. The quantity and quality of the information varied greatly, and follow up with students was inefficient and cumbersome. The ECI allows for an equitable experience for all applicants who desire to send additional information after their application is completed, and provides guidance for the submission of that information.
We will consider all applicants within the context of the larger applicant pool who apply by the Feb. 1 application deadline. Each application receives multiple comprehensive reviews, focusing on the quality of academic preparation in high school, grades, scores on the ACT and/or SAT (if provided), personal characteristics and attributes, responses to the short answer and essay questions, and recommendations from high school counselors and teachers.
There is always hearse. Don’t read reddit. Lol. There is always small trickles here and there Some schools like SMTD accept on a different schedule etc so you might hear some getting accepted etc.
Thank you for clarifying this. Your post last night saying that nobody gets denied was a punch to the gut.
My D24 is not “nobody” but was denied. OOS 3.7 UW top 10 NE boarding school 1420SAT, tons of High quality ECs and school leadership. Triple legacy of highly involved alumni including large donations to scholarships for underserved students. No special treatment expected but heartbroken nonetheless and she is a remarkble human being.
It stands to reason that there were actually thousands of “nobodies” - maybe just not chiming in on CC. Let’s not lose sight of that, people.
Where did I ever post that no one gets denied? I have been on here for like 10 years and people have always gotten denied in EA. If something got typed incorrectly then I would like to correct that. I am sorry about your daughter.
Thank you for your post.
@Knowsstuff and I get the “Does anyone get denied in EA?” several times every cycle. And we always respond by stating that, YES, some applicants do get denied in EA.
The CC audience skews high stat and/or an applicant may be embarrassed by posting a rejection, so CC does not get many posts of rejection during EA and I’m sure RD as well.
In any event, we all here wish you and your daughter the best of luck in the remainder of this admissions cycle.
FWIW, my D18 was rejected by her REA, her #1 choice back in 2017-2018, but had a blast in her 4 years at Michigan. And then she got the opportunity to REJECT her old #1, the REA school that rejected her, for grad school.
So, there’s a lot of wonderful colleges “in the sea.”
My apologies if I attributed this incorrectly.
Wow - 10 years… that’s very long time.
No worries but it wasn’t me. Lol. I know you have heard this before but kids do land where their supposed to. I also help some families outside of here. It’s very hard not to get the school you want. My daughter couldn’t even go to her number 1 but had a fantastic time at #2 and #3… She transfered her Junior year. Your daughter will go to a fantastic school. There are many fantastic schools out there. My son was very disappointed on some rejections. But he made his pathways at Michigan and it was where he flourished. The schools that rejected him weren’t the best schools for him. Ice cream kinda helps also .
Thank you! Yes, we understand the long game. Funny enough, I was accepted to UMich and Wisconsin as an undergrad - back in the stone ages. Chose Wisconsin because they showed me a lot more love plus I was a 4th generation legacy and loved the place SOOOO much.
Then, I got my MBA from Michigan. Loved that too, met my late husband there and joined a family of Michigan faithful.
So yeah, we all have many options and will find our way. It’s just not much fun getting the rejection.
All I can say is I am sooooo glad I took my D24 to the Rose Bowl this year because it was probably the best football game we have ever seen. And our feelings for UofM right now are…well… complicated.
Best of luck to all!
Many thanks - I had definitely not seen that. Surprised there aren’t more given the size of the place!
The way it was phrased in the FAQ, it seems like there are more. I would call admissions and ask.
Can someone give me an estimated number of how many applicants were probably let in yesterday??
Same here. S24 has strong stats, activities and genuine interest but was deferred (LSA/Ross). I know a lot of people get in RD but it is extremely unlikely to happen for Ross. Will confirm interest on the portal bur we have moved on Good luck everyone.
This might give you some insight.
Release dates…
