University of Michigan Ann Arbor Early Action Fall 2025

This year this thread is unusually quiet. I would have to look but we probably had at least a 1,000 posts or more at this point.

Hopefully more people decided to go south and not apply to UM.

i feel the same…hoping my daughter gets in, but the OOS sticker price is bananas. does anyone know if UM is OOS merit aid friendly?

I won’t tell you then about some kid’s like 5 year’s ago that looked at the websites code and somehow determined who got in and who didn’t. :flushed:… Seems like the

Financial aid per se not much merit. But it’s not going to be full need. I have seen OOS get like $25,-30,000. But talk to financial aid since everyone’s situation is different.

thanks for the guidance. we are unlikely to get need based, so likely merit or bust.

Here is something to pass the time. I said Go Blue wearing a Michigan cap to someone wearing all OSU and he had no clue. Tons of ND fans wearing their gear in my areas of Chicago.

I grew up in Michigan since age 6. But we moved to Chicago in the 80s for my Residency. It killed us paying those OOS state fee’s. Yes, we called and asked very ridiculous questions and saying silly things like “But we used to live there”… Many of us contemplated getting a summer house on the Michigan border etc. Lol. None of that would of worked BTW…

I worked MI (GM) late 90’s early 2000’s , had not for 911, I probably still there, with so many people works remote, I wonder how feasible is to get house in MI and claim work remotely, I remember back then u can get little shed in Detroit for under 10k, I can not personally since I work gov stuff has to be onsite, but sure people thinking ways to get around

Family friend sent three kids to UM OOO. Midway through second with third applying, they bought a house in MI, not sure if it worked but they saw the value proposition!

I always love the north Michigan, love the apple and that little peninsula, what ever that called I can not remember , especially when it is cherry season, I honestly won’t mind to get a house there

I checked and at this point last year there were about 480 messages, but it grew very rapidly over the next week or two.

There was some portal speculation regarding the CSS code of the portal, but it seems like they’ve changed the code from last year’s “#postpone_button” (that everyone had) to be called “#banner_dismiss_button” instead. Maybe they saw the thread and fixed it accordingly, lol. There’s still some code in there that says “#admitreplybutton” though, but I assume everyone has that too.

Thanks for the assist.

It’s certainly a lot higher than in-state, but, compared to most privates it’s relatively low. And in the experience of our kids the fact that it’s public vs private has not been a noticeable detriment in any way (so far at least).

BTW if admitted, apply for the LEAD Scholarship. It’s open to everyone admitted despite some appearances to the contrary.
