thanks for the heads up. and i’m definitely comparing it to other upper echelon OOS state schools on the tuition piece. private is another issue…haha.
Friend’s kids are at USC. RIP 529s!
Do you happen to know if the audition-based arts programs also announce on EA date?
@skkm0906, did you see the post on the UMD EA sub, regarding the date on the Student Housing portal opening on 1/24 at 6pm for NEW students? Now, why would they open it next Friday evening? Surely not just for the three admits they celebrated yesterday!
Unfortunately I can’t find anything similar on the Michigan site.
- Applications to the College of Pharmacy, the Marsal School of Education, the School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD), and the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning will receive their decision as part of the Regular Decision process and are not considered for Early Action. However, any Stamps School of Art & Design, College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, or College of Engineering dual-degree application submitted with an SMTD or Taubman College application will receive Early Action consideration if completed by the Nov. 1 deadline.
Just easier to copy and paste this
You apply for housing after you send in your deposit. Then your sent a link to housing.
We should know at midnight–whether or not the portal closes and says EA applications are being processed–if results are this Friday or next Friday. Unless they’ve changed things up with their portal this year of course.
midnight tonight?
I’m a Michigan grad and bleed Maize and Blue…but it’s expensive OOS compared to the other good public schools. Good for them that they can get people to pay it while giving relatively little merit aid, but it’s a lot.
hard for me to figure it is $50K/yr better than PSU for my kid. don’t fault anyone for choosing what they think is best…but tough for me to rationalize if we come to that choice.
Michigan is an expensive OOS regardless of Public or Private. In 2017 when my son went it was around $63,000 and to us it was worth the difference of him going, instead of going to UIUC for engineering.
But if he went this year I don’t know if we could justify it. The opportunities he had were fantastic. But of course you make those opportunities for yourself also.
On the Monday before the Friday results day, the portal locks up and displays a message saying EA admissions are being processed and that results are “soon”. I checked last year’s thread and people reported the portal doing so at/around midnight the Monday before.
I’ve stopped saying $50k a year and started just saying $200k. That makes it more real.
monday into tuesday midnight? or sunday into monday? and yes…i am a bit extra right now. thank you in advance lol
Sunday into Monday, midnight EST. So in about four hours!
Message is there!
