Artistic Reviews - deadline was 10/15 to submit for late November auditions.
Has anyone received the “invite” and if so is it an email or something in portal? Not sure what to look for. Also - do they notify either way or Only if they want you to attend audition.
Check your spam folders on your email. You should at least be notified via email /portal. They are nice people you can call also.
What’s the odds of getting your application postponed?
Postponed Applicants FAQ | University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Heard it’s a big things since there’s so many applicants.
Huge! 65,000 applicants for around 7,000 spots. But around 95,000 applicants including RD.
So, does UM use the term “postponed” as other schools use the term “deferred”? When I first read the phrase, I took it as distinct from “deferred” and more along the lines that they ran out of time to adequately review the file so they postponed it to the RD round.
Now, having read your attachment, it seems that UM is using the term synonymously with deferred.
Postponed = deferred.
Since Michigan hires additional app readers and EA admission notification happens in late January, I doubt they have an issue getting through all their apps.

Congrats… Your accepted…
Chancing is so hard but you seem like a perfect candidate especially being instate. 90,0000 applications is the problem. It was much easier when it was just 50,000 applications. Seriously. Lol
How does your school so work Michigan Acceptences and is your school a local feeder into them?
My school has an average 30% acceptance into Michigan
That is high so your chances are improved. But no guarantees. What does your high school advisor think?
She says I have a good chance but Michigan has become very selective and a lot of qualified people are not getting in. I was worried about my ECs but she said they were okay.
They are. Michigan wants good grades with rigor. Ecs can be just about anything that you do for a few year’s. It can be one or two things that give you meaning. What you do is up to you. Also some people can’t do Ecs since they have to work or go home after school to watch a sibling so their parent can go to work. Both of those situations colleges look at as very positive and both show leadership skills. Don’t over think the Ecs. Just make sure the essay is good.
Michigan just published its annual “Almanac”, which has some data that I haven’t seen elsewhere. The one chart I thought worth sharing here is the acceptance rate, which isn’t broken down by in-state/out-of-state anywhere else (or at least I couldn’t find it anywhere else). The data is only through 2023 applications, so undoubtedly the percentages have gone down since overall applications in 2024 were up 12% to 98,300. Still, 14% acceptance rate for out-of-state is pretty tough. Not Ivy League level, but pretty close. Link here: https://obp.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/pubdata/almanac/Almanac_20th_Edition.pdf
You have found the holy grail. This and the Common data sets are eye opening. It’s been around 14% for a year or two. But yes. Coming out of state is tough. But if you get accepted and can afford it very much worth it.
Wow this really is fantastic. Thanks for posting it!
I found P17 very interesting too (# of kids within each school). I’d love to see the acceptance rates broken out for these!
Nice to see that they compare themselves to other public/private schools on every conceivable metric in the almanac(including the much maligned us news ranking).
When my daughter committed to a different college (yes heartbreaking as a alum) Michigan sent her an email/survey asking her what school she ended up committing to. I don’t recall other colleges asking her where she decided to go. I guess Michigan wants to understand it’s competition.
Oh! The differences in the sizes of the schools is very eye-opening. DC wouldn’t have chosen a different major, but at least now we know how much smaller some of the schools are than LSA.
Actually, my son (freshman at Michigan now) got a similar email from the University of Washington, asking where he ended up.
