Does anyone know when EA decisions come out for UMich? I know it says “late Jan” but what are the probable dates
Last date on a Friday in Jan is January 31 at 3:00 Eastern time would be my guess.
Yep, plan for Friday 1/31/2025. Around 3 PM EST.
How Many expected applications this year? Last year total 105,000 including Transfers.
No one knows but I bet around the same or close
So Michigan beat #2 OSU a few weeks ago being a 21 point underdog. Today, they just beat #11 Alabama and were a 17 point underdog without their 4 star player’s who 4 of them will be in the top 25 of the first round of the NFL draft. 2 in the top 7 possibly.
Why do I mention this?
At Michigan. Anything is possible. Leaders and Best. It’s really a real thing. Sometimes you have to just believe in yourself and bet on yourself when no one else does! This is what you will need when you attend Michigan. It’s a very difficult school. You will need your whole team to help you do thing’s you never thought were possible. Your team is your advisors, professors, study groups, graduate students, math /science /writing labs. Some of the best players(cough) … Students… Use them all the time.
No matter what school you end up at,make sure to use your team to reach your goals. Go Blue!
Loved the game! Though last few minutes!!
I won’t even get started about Michigan basketball. They already have a much improved team since last year. Lol
anything regarding portal astrology/speculation with UM to know about going into this month?
Lots of theories. What will happen though will be about a week before the release, computer’s will show changes in the portal. Some people are locked out, icons change, color changes etc. On the Monday of the release its like their loading the results. Things change for most people. If someone on Reddit says they are accepted and they are the only one day’s ahead of time, don’t listen to that. Acceptance is global, so everyone at the same time.
Start looking at all schools you’re applying to at their clubs, classes etc. No reason to do this last minute.
For most everyone, you’re not going to know till April regardless when you applied. Buckle up for a long ride.
^^I follow everything except the above sentence. Can you please explain why early action wouldn’t know until April? Oh wait, I think I get it. You’re saying that most everyone will get deferred rather than admitted or rejected, is that what you’re saying?
Yes. I should of been more clear. The results this cycle for EA are denied, postponed or accepted. Circle January 31st at 3:00 pm Eastern time.
A significant portion of the EA pool will be postponed (deferred) into the RD pool, which will receive their notifications in late March or early April.
We’ve been operating under the premise that about 50% of TOTAL acceptances (EA + RD) take place in the EA decision/pool. So, if there are roughly 65,000 +/- EA apps (no one knows how many, so just a pure guess) and only 7,500 +/- (guess) students are accepted during EA, then 55,000-60,000 (guess) apps are postponed/deferred into RD.
So, most applicants won’t get a final decision until late March/early April. Patience is necessary with Michigan.
Looks like this is simialr to USC, CA where the EA accepatnces are only for their top2% admits who also receive a Merit Scholarship for the most part. Is this true for UMICH EA decsions too?
Thanks.
First, Michigan is a public school, so UMich admissions will achieve roughly 52% of the enrolled class from in-state.
Second, EA acceptances will run the gamut, in terms of statistical profiles. Every year, for the last umpteen years, there are always complaints from many of the “4.0/1,600” applicants who are deferred to RD. So, “top” is relative.
And also every year, some of those “4.0/1,600” applicants that have been deferred, will scream “yield protection!”, even though there are many “4.0/1,600” applicants that are accepted in EA.
It’s like clockwork around here.
Are you saying most of the OOS should have written the supplemental essays for three more months and applied RD!
Nope, not what I said.
In theory, with an OOS yield of about 34%, there should be plenty of OOS EA acceptances in order to achieve an enrolled class with about 45% from OOS.
Ok. Thanks. With your example numbers, it is not much of a demonstrated interest applying EA if 65000 people are doing it.
Anyway for people interested, Michigan EA and its potential benefits are covered in this thread:
I think “demonstrated interest” is low priority to a Michigan admissions officer, but EA is only one way to express interest in attending.
The others are engaging with UMich, such as following on social media accounts, attend virtual events, contacting admissions with legit questions, etc.
And likely THE most important piece for “demonstrated interest”? Your ESSAYS!
