University of Michigan Class of 2023 - Deferred Applicants

In my portal it says they recieved my transcirpts 2/28. My school sent it in mid Feb. Does anyone know if they had gotten it earlier and the date is just off or is this a reason why I am still waiting for a decision after being deferred? Hoping for a mid march wave PLEASE!!

Is there even a mid march wave? I don’t recall there being a mid-February wave either

@brookeaharrison nope, still deferred and no updates. wrote a LOCI back in December and got what seemed like an automated response. best of luck to you!

for those who submitted a LOCI can you see it in your application credentials? I’m worried they never filed mine cause it isn’t in my file online and I didn’t receive a response

I sent a LOCI beginning of February and got a short response 2 weeks later. It said that the info was added to my file and would be used in the final review of my application, but I never saw anything on the actual portal that indicated I had sent one.

I was deferred EA and I feel like I sent a LOCI kinda late, but it probably helped.

Were there any acceptances on 3/1 for CoE? Everyone i read about was outside engineering. If anyone could shed light on that - it would be much appreciated.

@FlyYellow i think some people on reddit said they got in COE

@FlyYellow Yes, I was accepted as an in-state applicant to the College of Engineering on 3/1.

Yes, there were several CoE acceptances in the 3/1 wave. I’ll post a revised count sometime tomorrow.

Not me, but a girl at my school got into CoE on the March 1 wave. 3.9uw, 29 act, first gen tho

@hars5678.

I suggest you call. My dd has the same situation in 2015. She called the admissions office and asked if they had record of her loci. It was not in her file and she was told to resend and call back in a few days. When she did, they asked her how school was going and a few other questions and then said her file was updated with the loci. She was eventually accepted in the 3/29 wave.

I just checked my portal and did not see Mid-Year report listed anywhere. On the CommonApp it says it was downloaded, is this a problem or no?

@USCkid19 check the date of your HS transcript on your portal. It should have updated

Does anyone know when the next round will come out? Thanks!

It appears Michigan is using this schedule this year for Ross and most other schools. If course this could be incorrect also.

@michigan2019 my daughter attends an in-state feeder school. She applied to LSA and was deferred in December. I spoke with her guidance counselor this morning. Her high school does not know any more than we do and says that UM does not provide release date information to guidance counselors.

Like @Crivelo (see post #1603), parents at our high school have observed more deferrals than in the past, as well as fewer 2/1 and 3/1 decisions. (The majority of my daughter’s classmates admitted so far are National Merit Scholars who also have very significant athletic or leadership achievements.) Unlike @Crivelo’s high school, however, decisions at our high school to-date have skewed towards COE acceptances.

We do not know whether this means more decisions during March or a larger number of decisions around 4/1.

I only wish that UM Admissions could see the maturity with which my daughter is handling the wait and the uncertainty!

@USCkid19 My son had his guidence counselor email his mid-year transcript to ecredentials@umich.edu. When he asked his UM admissions counselor, that is how she said they wanted to receive them.

Re-post of Stats from the FEBRUARY 1st wave for comparison:

I find The OOS numbers interesting. The relative high percentage of OOS to IS reporting at CC and then the trend to an increase of IS percentage accepts over OOS from the first wave to the second wave.
