University of Michigan Class of 2028 Official RD Thread

None. We were told by school college counselor it was extremely unlikely and to move on. No communication from Michigan at all.

None - total shock
especially because it’s a Monday! Email at 3:17. She found out right after her lacrosse game
so many happy tears.

Congratulations. Do you mind sharing your daughter’s stats

congratulations. Do you mind sharing your child’s stats so I can better gauge my chances

Stats probably aren’t a good indication. Everyone on the waitlist likely has high enough stats for acceptance. Getting off the w/l will be more of a function of meeting the school’s institutional priorities in other ways than having specific stats.

My son had been invited to apply for winter start in kinesiology. The SMI program. A few emails updating him. And then today a little after 3pm was admitted for fall.

1400 SAT (submitted), 3.92UW, strong extracurriculars, 4 year Varsity player in 3 sports/Captain of 2); strong essays. My oldest daughter graduated from U-M School of Nursing with honors in 2022 but honestly don’t feel that played a factor. This was a long, brutal process and she had pretty much given up. This was her dream. We are OOS (MA) and there are 3 others from her school who had previously been accepted
we are not a private or feeder school. Good luck to all still waiting!

Absolutely agree. Also, Nursing is a very small program, around 175- 200-ish freshman are admitted and I wouldn’t try to extrapolate “stat info” and attempt to apply it to other schools, such as LSA, CoE, Kinesiology, etc., certainly w/o seeing the entire application, which isn’t going to happen.

None, the email came as a total surprise since I am outside the United States and it was about 12:47 am for me. I do remember however showing a lot of interest after I was deferred by speaking to a couple of their student ambassadors, professors for my intended major and asking questions to my local AO. I guess the demonstrated interest paid off!

congratulations!

Has anyone who indicated preference for winter start Kines SMI or MAES program heard back yet? The last email said they would release by the end of last week but during the info session said they would not release the winter start decisions until they first finalize the fall class.

Nothing since that last email over a week ago.

I’m curious if those offered places off the waitlist will share if they are in state or OOS? My theory is that if all wait list applicants are qualified, the full-paying OOS students will get the offers. Regardless of that, congratulations to those receiving admits!!

I read in last years thread that it seemed oos was in the first wave and in state in June.

That actually makes sense from a practical and financial standpoint.

Well not all OOS :smiling_face_with_tear:

there were 2 ppl who got off at my school in state, one is in kinesiology and the other idk

My son was just accepted into the Sports Management Immersion program, which starts in Winter.

What a long ride this has been. Thrilled for those finally getting accepted into their dream school!

Any feedback on this program is welcome. My son will be looking for a Roommate.
