University of Michigan Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

If ross started to come out has anyone heard anything or know people who got

One in state Ross WL admitted yesterday, confirmed.

Congrats to everyone who made it off the WL!

Has there been any out of state for ross.

I have only heard of one in-state but there could have been OOS, just not reported on any of the socials. (College Navigators confirmed one in state - I reached out specifically to confirm and she did confirm it was from a counselor.)

From the Reddit threads it seems like many of the OOS for engineering (and other schools) are from CA and NY which I know are ā€œpreferred statesā€ for Michigan. Am I reading the tea leaves correctly?

As always, it’s hard to know without data to which we have no access.

As you can explore from the data here (just scroll down and select Enrollment By Geographic Location, then By State), CA, IL, and NY send the most kids to UMich after Michigan itself.

So, I’m not sure they’re so much ā€œpriorityā€ for UMich as they are the states from which the most kids apply. Which makes sense as they are states with high populations. (And of course IL is a neighbor). In fact the list on that website pretty closely aligns with state population, with perhaps some geographic bias. So it may be as simple as that.

You guys think there will be another wave this week?

adding onto this, the last wave seemed to only be Ross, LSA, and engineering. Is there going to be movement for the other smaller schools before those three move again?

By no means an expert on UM WL - but since a large wave went out Monday (engineering, policy sci, pre-med, CS, economics, sports management, nursing, sociology and general LSA reported, also one in-state Ross) and I saw one was released yesterday (nursing), and students were given over a week to decide, I would think unless there are other programs releasing WL acceptances separately/as one-offs, the next wave or the next releases will start after the May 21 deadline.

Looking at some posts on Social Media looks like Ross made a few offers for both in-state and OOS.

I dont think ross had a big wave. Theres like barely anything on social media

D25 was accepted into the January start Sports Management Immersion (SMI) Program yesterday. He is considering the pros and cons and waiting for the financial aid package. During the info sessions they told us that they don’t accept to the SMI program until the Fall SM class has been filled either by initial admissions or from the WL so my guess is they are not pulling any more from the waitlist for Sports Management but may accept more into the SMI program depending on who accepts spots.

I don’t know how much of a help this is, but someone in my instate class got off the waitlist for (I believe) LSA, on Monday the 12th.

Good luck everyone!

Any updates? Last year Waitlist came out may20th.

Well there was already a huge wave last Monday and they have until 21st to decide so I’m assuming after that. Have heard of people getting off since then but other than spring start, not sure how accurate that info is.

I saw people posting on sunday that they committed to michigan…did michigan send emails on sunday? or do you think that was from last week?

I’m assuming it was either spring admits or just took time posting but someone said they knew someone who got in last week. I doubt it was weekend though but who knows. We’re still keeping fingers crossed here!

same!!! good luck!

There were a few people on the 2029 Michigan Parents Facebook page that said their son/daughter didn’t see that there was an email update – and happened to check it days later with news that they had been accepted off the WL.
