University of Michigan - Deferral Thread

Plus, the stress is literally eating me up on the inside. I’ve been finding it hard to focus on so many aspects of my life because they’ve been stringing me along for what seems like forever… If I end up getting waitlisted/rejected in mid-April I’m not going to be happy. They should get all the rejections done earlier on in the year so it gives those kids time to choose what backup college they want to go to. Idk, their whole admissions system is beyond my comprehension…

Accepted into engineering on Friday

yea i agree, waiting for michigan is making me unfocused in other aspects in life! the stress is eating me alive

@carnold96 this is exactly how I feel! I’m going to be upset if I don’t get a real decision by Mid April and then end up behind the game at another school. I feel like they do string us along and it’s so stressful! I check my email almost every 10 minutes hoping that something will show up from UM! I just need to know either way so that I can make my final college plans!!

Let us all get ahold of our faculties shall we? Nobody among us likes it. We don’t have to like it…but come hell or high water damn it…we’re going to learn to love it!

Many other schools play the same game…I have a friend who is literally losing hair waiting for UNC and Duke. Ivy has a tradition of this too. We all have a back up plan. We all are getting jammed up with second rate housing elsewhere. We all could get rejected, accepted or wait-listed. Wait-listed would be the worst. The other two have a beginning and an end.

Now maybe, just maybe…had we put that little extra something into whatever it is we are deficient at…only the mirror knows for sure…we would all have been given the nod by now. Clearly, we chose to have that extra Twinkie and this is what we are saddled with for our trouble!

If I were a drinking man, I would have a nice Blanton’s in a fine crystal rocks glass…be it that I do not drink, I think I will have an Arnold Palmer Arizona Tea instead.

Good night and see you tomorrow!

Yeah, being waitlisted would be 10 times worse than being rejected in my opinion. What’s even worse is that I am going to Michigan for spring break and will be visiting the campus next week. I am so scared that I’ll jinx myself by visiting the beautiful campus only to be rejected the week after…ugghhhh I wish I could just know! Do you think if I baked the admissions office a cake that I would be automatically accepted on the spot? Hahahaha I’m joking…but really…

i havent even heard back from any other college yet -___-

How many apps. Do they review? 30,000+? Could they REALLY read all of the essays and docs? Seriously? I pray it is so…it will make all the difference. Life is chock full of rejections…perhaps it is a life lesson they wish to expound on us? Perhaps it is patience they preach…
In a world full of “everyone wins” and “every kid plays” and “every kid gets a trophy”, maybe The University of Michigan is the last bastion of old school mentality on winners and losers!
Some win, some lose…some become homeless alcoholics because of bad breaks…I hope this isn’t one of those bad breaks!

@rtv2014…have you applied to many? Early or later in the process? I have been accepted to most…shot down at a few and waiting on 1!

@jcooch i only applied early to michigan, everything else was regular decision! i heard back from my first on saturday (boston university) but I might hear back earlier from rolling-release schools (like michigan or university of wisconsin-madison, and i heard northeastern is rolling too)

@Rtv2014. I live just North of Boston…BU and the city is cool! Northeastern as well! I have a feeling you will get the welcome nod at UofM…just a gut feeling. Myself…I have a gut feeling they will show me the gate! Looks like another year subscribing to The Big Ten Network to get my Michigan fix!

Maybe if I send the admissions staff some pictures of my Tatts they will give me a second look?

…well, that is if I ever get some Tatts! :)

@jcooch aaaah thanks!! i think you’ll get in too! you sound very intelligent and sweet  i hope we get accepted!

I wish we had the stats of people who have been getting accepted. That way we can get a better feel of where we stand.

@calculator16
You can always look up for the admission stat from last year. Avg GPA 3.85, mid 50 ACT 29-33, mid 50 SAT 2030-2250.

i guess decisions can be released throughout the week as well, according to twitter someone was accepted this morning

yea i saw that

but of course we arent those lucky ones… and umich is stringing us along

I’ve seen multiple tweets of acceptances today. My guess is they keep sending as many small batches as they can until mid April. Hopefully we’ll all hear before then!

rejected from northeastern today… i really need michigan to send me the good news to keep my spirits up
