My son did a robotics course there like 2 years ago. He said the food was the best of all colleges he did programs at (3). The campus is beautiful in spring but more spread out then Michigan. It is also an absolutely great University on many levels. I know many that went there and that are there currently. All get jobs at graduation. Wayne is a great lower cost option. I know many successful people that went to my Alma mater… I had to work to pay my way through college while all my friends were at Michigan State or Michigan… 8-|
@umichlove10 not very many instate (none from my school that i heard of)… hopefully that changes next week? (for the better) Are you instate as well?
@Knowsstuff what college are you talking about? Wayne?
I don’t think there have been many in-state decisions at all. I wouldn’t worry if you’re an in-state person yet, however I would worry about people out of state. I think their big wave already arrived.
@umichlove10 @wowisntthisfun @Michiganplz18 I haven’t heard of any instate people getting accepting near me. It seems very strange if there is a huge instate wave but there are a ton of instate kids that haven’t been accepted so I’m not sure.
Where are you instate guys from?
It may just be me but portal seems to be down rn
BH
For our school who usually has about 150 acceptances each year, I’ve only heard of about 7 deferred acceptances so far which seems quite low.
@wowisntthisfun… Talking about Michigan State… Sorry about that that…
Remember this forum has members from all states and all over the world. The number of applicants from Michigan appear in college confidential does not match the applicant pool at UMich which is roughly 1/7 in state. There is a huge bias in sample size. Not to mention the number of OOS admission is around double of in state admission. It is a false impression from that there were little admission from in state so far. Most of the in state students that I know have been admitted already, some in EA and some in RD. All from feeder schools in the region though.
@wowisntthisfun yeah I guess campus wise Wayne is not the most appealing, but I do like that it’s downtown
@EthanAz1 Walled Lake Area
yea portal is down ITS service says scheduled maintenance
Our small Michigan High School had three EA acceptances - the norm. More from the school applied to Michigan this year than ever before so at least 10 deferred. D top 5% of her class deferred. Excellent essays, great extra curriculars, brother at Michigan. We are waiting to hear back but are losing hope.
@sim99… I was just downtown on my last visit to Detroit. The area that Wayne is in has really changed and the shuttle bus that was installed and the renovation of downtown has really been a game changer. I have talked to many relatives and other families and Wayne has actually been a lot of people’s first or second choice almost like Grand Valley has become very popular lately.
@Knowsstuff Yes! It really has changed and most my friends go there. Plus, I am going to be commuting so it is more convenient than MSU. I didn’t even apply to MSU just because it does not appeal to me. My family is very anti-sparty, which is obviously not the best reason to overlook a school. I just truly think I would not be happy there.
Since they don’t accept applications into the honors college after April 9th, does that mean that they will for sure have a decision for everyone at least a few days before then?
@wowisntthisfun Yes, I am in-state!
I have now heard from two people why deferred has been different. They did not even READ a large number of the EA applications as they were hit with so many more EA’s applications than previous and did not have the folks there to go through them. They have been playing catch up since.
