University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

@billcsho I thought it was the first week of April for us to get a decision from U of M or at least that’s what the letter of deferral and my admissions counselor said.

@brownsie000 that would mean another week of waiting, please no

@PoseidonHKG well it’s definently not May 1st because that would mean an entire month more of waiting. I am not sure if they meant regular decision applicants have to wait until then or what but there is no way deferred students will have to wait until then unless you get waitlisted and accept. Otherwise, I am not sure for RD as I thought it was all by April.

It is by mid April so there could be a wave this Friday and you may not be included in that. We just have to keep waiting for no longer than a couple weeks.

I haven’t heart of any kinesiology students being accepted, does anyone know of any?

my counselor told me it would be this thursday friday

@brownsie000 The decision deadline of May 1 is referring to the students in committing to a college, not the admission decision.

@billcsho What are you thinking regarding a possible release Friday?

My friend got into school of kinesiology early action.

@umichlove10 Any day is possible. They do not need to stick with any schedule, particularly near the end of admission cycle.

Hopefully they come out this week because I want to be able to sign up for classes (even if its not at UMICH).

it should be this thurs/friday

I have a 34 ACT and plenty of extra curriculars, but coming from a competitive private school my average is only an 89.65. I sent three LOCIs and my college counselor called and told my rep that I will go if accepted. What are my chances?

I just called and they said it could be any time between today and mid April. They also said there may be two waves in the coming weeks. I think it’s interesting that they mentioned today.

@Mikemargo11 what do you mean by “that they mentioned today” also thanks for calling lmao

Honestly, saying “anytime between today and two weeks” feels like a standard answer. I would be hesitant to start thinking decisions are gonna be coming out today lol. I think this Friday has got to be the day. How much later can they wait? It’s the last Friday of March.

That is pretty much their standard answer. Someone claimed to receive additional information about their admission status or have a reliable source given a specific date or time are mostly bogus.

@billcsho
arent most colleges supposed to release by April 1st? I feel like thats the standard date. And plus they have to release by april 9th cuz thats when LSA honors apps closes.

Michigan notification seems really late to me too. Ivies release tonight and almost everyone else has a hard 4/1 date for notifications. Not having a firm “no later than date” and zero communications from admissions is leaving a poor impression in our household. I’m sure they don’t care, but I would bet this will impact their yield numbers if they go much past 4/1.

@pachacuti092 There is no standard date for most schools and UMich never mentions April 1 as the scheduled deadline. Their official info always say “will hear back by early April” or “guarantee a decision by mid April”. Nevertheless, they usually have vast majority of admission released by the end of March. There are some special situations that may lead to late admission. I know one got admitted on April 30 by the music school a few years ago. Those got admitted after April 15 would have a minimum of 2 weeks to decide. If it follows the pattern of the past, there should be some admission followed by a bunch of rejection coming out soon. However, they don’t really have a fixed schedule and it may vary from year to year. We thought EA result must be released on Friday until they released it on a different day. Right now, we can only go by their mid April official response.
