Waitlisted
Instate, CoE, white female, legacy, from a high school that sent around 60 to umich last year
uw 3.78 SAT 1390
IB diploma, 2 APs, some honors
Not a ton of ec but NHS and rowing team
I probably would have preferred a rejection because now I have to worry and wait even longer (I submitted my app in September yikes) but it is what it is I guess
DS, in-state, 4.4 W GPA, 34 ACT, 13 AP’s, National AP Scholar, Varsity Sports, NHS, legacy, feeder school…applied in September 2016 for CoE, deferred EA, waitlisted, and finally rejected in July. UM was first choice and the process was gut-wrenching. My advice? Sure, accept the waitlist if it’s your dream school, but move on and enjoy what you’ve accomplished!. You will find your happiness elsewhere at a school that wants you for you. As his mom and a graduate of UM, I am incredibly disappointed with the process of admission and can see that it hasn’t improved in 2 years. My “M” has been tarnished forever. My heart goes out to each and every one of you…
I know this site is an unscientific sample but there seems to be an inordinate amount of waitlisted folks. A dubious honor with the low number of WL folks who got in last year. @billcsho compared being waitlisted to the Spring admission offered by some schools which was the most illogical comparison possible. Spring admission guarantees you admittance with a half year wait while WL gives you MAYBE a five percent chance of losing your deposit at another school and attending a school that has put you off twice. I would not be surprised if they still failed to read through all of the applications. Their process will make THEIR job easier as I think it will lead to less people applying to UM.
Waitlisted in state LSA. 3.7 gpa, 30 ACT. Average extracurriculars, not many AP classes. Kinda disappointing to wait 6 months to again be led to another inconclusive answer. I probably won’t accept it. Not very happy with this process.
Accepted LSA, in state
3.9 uw gpa
4.5 weighted
29 ACT
White, female
Most classes I took were honors and AP.
Decent extracurriculars, lots of legacy, and I really think sending a loci helped.
My friend got in off the waitlist last year with a 27 act and 3.8 gpa…don’t lose hope!!! He heard in the beginning of May. Good luck to everyone.
@Umich3882 I’m going to call and ask them if that means anything as to why we haven’t heard yet. Maybe we got in already or something like that haha. What are your stats?
@Michiganplz18 My gpa was a 3.88 uw and 1250 sat when I applied. After my mid year grades it was a 3.83. I was also selected as a HAIL scholar so I will receive full tuition if I’m accepted. I think that might help me. Essays were really good, lots of volunteering, I’ve also had a 20 hour a week job since I turned 16. Good ECs and letters of rec. just ready to know and get this off my shoulders
All those heading to UW, are you OOS for Wisconsin. I was admitted but didn’t receive any merit aid. Is it really worth to pay ~$55,000/year to go there. Or should I just go to MSU
