I got in yesterday; sent an email; didn’t send in mid-year grade since I haven’t even finished my midterm exams yet; don’t have legacy
Deferred early applicant here.
Haven’t received anything yet. Does this mean I’m probably rejected ?
Applied to CoE for civil Engineering with above average ECs , Great grades and a 29 ACT.(35 math)
Anyone receive notifications for scholarships yet? Jean Fairfax or Shipman etc?

I am a legacy international applicant with decent sat scores. i was accepted from purdue and deferred from brown university. i was initially deferred from Umich COE. I sent in a letter of continued interest stating that as michigan is my first preference,i will surely attend(my brother also currently attends umich) and got that standard reply from the admission’s counsellor.I have also sent in my mid year report. I didn’t receive a decision in the first wave… Does this imply that i’ll be rejected?
Deferred applicants will continue to receive decisions over the course of the next few months – this was only the first wave. If you haven’t heard anything yet, don’t conclude that you’ve been rejected. They have thousands of applications to sort through, so those of us who were admitted on Friday should consider ourselves lucky! I know waiting is the worst, but have faith. UMich is becoming a better school every year.

@cidjje do you think that there could be another wave next week or in the month of February ?
@mailu123 Last year, I believe the second wave of decisions for deferred students came out Feb. 27th (last Friday of the month). So, if the admissions team sticks to any sort of pattern, I would assume that another set of decisions would be released on the 26th. This is all conjecture, though. I know nothing of the admissions timeline, so all anyone can really do is wait. Best of luck.

A lot of my friends got accepted a few days ago. One of them wasn’t even deferred originally and got in! - He missed the EA deadline, so he got in regular. Most my friends who were deferred have already got a reply of acceptance.
I got accepted on Feb 5th!
Has anyone checked out their net price calculator? I put in all the right information, and it gave me very generous aid plus a Pell grant, even though my family income is over 200k. Has it been inaccurate for anyone else?
I’ve run the net price calculator and it estimated an EFC about $18,000 more than we can afford, despite still giving us a decent amount of aid for a family income of $100k+.
Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the acceptance packet to come in the mail? Also, how long until accepted students hear about financial aid?
@QueenOfNarnia EFC? Your EFC is specifically a FAFSA thing. If you mean “Estimated Remaining Cost,” that’s the remainder of “unmet need” that includes your EFC and any additional loans to be taken out.
@freedomcatalyst I’m not sure about the packet since mine came in while I was away from home, but as far as I know Financial Aid hasn’t been awarded yet. I was accepted in the first December wave and haven’t gotten anything back yet. Granted, they didn’t have my FAFSA or CSS Profile until mid-late January, but if you’re just going through admission and applying for FinAid, don’t expect anything too soon.
Has the geisinger scholarship for the college of engineering been released yet?
Anybody know when Ross will release preferred admission decisions?

@QueenOfNarnia Sadly, “what you can afford” is irrelevant when it comes to financial aid. It is what the university deems you should contribute. This isn’t the same thing. I wouldn’t count on anything more than shown on the NPC.
@whizkid98 Your FAFSA will determine you Pell Grant eligibility. It is highly unlikely you will qualify for a Pell Grant or much grant aid. Once you submit your FAFSA you find out for certain.
