University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

I still didn’t get around to submitting my FAFSA or CSS profile. I Might do them next weak. Still don’t know why I can’t view the summary for the 2016 year though…

According to the financial aid office, the changes to the portal were made as part of getting ready to post new award notices. Or at least that is what they said on the phone.

Hey guys, I was accepted to engineering at Umich. I understand that Umich students declare their major in the sophomore year… I wanted to know how easy is it to choose majors like EECS which are really competitive?
Do we need a certian GPA or something like that?

@Rohitmohit

From http://www.engin.umich.edu/college/academics/bulletin/rules/registration

"Students may declare a major as early as their second term in the College, and are urged to declare a specific engineering major by the start of their 3rd term of enrollment. Undeclared students cannot register for a 4th term in the College unless they have met with an advisor and developed a plan to select and declare a major within a reasonable time. This plan can be developed in coordination with the EAC advisors and departmental program advisors.

Students who meet all of the criteria below can declare any undergraduate engineering major. Students not meeting these criteria must meet with a departmental program advisor to establish any specific steps they must take in order to declare that major.

Students can declare or change into any undergraduate engineering major if they:

Have completed at least one full term of courses on the U-M Ann Arbor campus.
Have an overall U-M GPA of 2.0 or better in courses taken at the U-M Ann Arbor campus and are in good standing.
Have completed or earned credit by exam or transfer for one or more courses in each of these categories:
Calculus (e.g. Math 115, 116, 156)
Calculus-based physics lectures (e.g. Physics 140, 160) or chemistry lectures (e.g. Chemistry 130)
Required engineering courses (Engr 100, 101, 151)

A student must have a grade of C or better in every math course, science lecture and engineering course taken at U-M Ann Arbor to declare, unless waived by the program advisor, including 1-3 above. For repeated courses the most recent grade counts."

For anyone wondering, I got my admissions packet yesterday!

I applied to Michigan early action and got deferred. I read that this past Friday, February 12, Michigan released acceptance notifications. I have not received any word of any kind. Will there be more acceptances or are all of the rest of the notifications rejections?

@judgek From what I understand, there will continue to be acceptances released periodically all of the way into April. Until you are actually rejected, you are still in the mix! Good luck.

Around when are scholarship notifications released?

@dango98 Some have already been released. Did you check your portal to see if you received any?

@AcceptableName where on the portal do you check for scholarship notifications? Does anyone know when CoE merit scholarships go out and how they notify… is it by email or snail mail? Thanks!

My portal only shows 2017 aid, and it isnt accessable. Does anyone else have that

@Abwee67 yep same here.

@portiaherndon On Wolverine Access there is a section labeled “Financial Aid.” Look for the link that says “View Financial Aid Award Notices” and if you are in the same situation as some of us, you should see something like this: http://■■■■■■/n8qVC/bc0e4aae4d.png where the option is not clickable.

Daughter remains spinning in a state of suspended animation. . .

@CautiousOptimist I emailed the Scholarship Department of Michigan and they responded that the Geisinger Scholarship will be announced in the next two to three weeks. Also they only award 7 :frowning:

Hmm… It’s disappointing to hear that it’s still so far out. Not feeling too great about my chances but it would be such wonderful news if it turned out well…

hey everyone
i was initially deferred(legacy applicant) in december and also sent in a letter of continued interest and got that standard reply from my admission’s counsellor. I still haven’t received a decision till now. Do you think I should write to my regional counsellor again showing further interest??

anyone elses regional counselor not respond to anything or answer any questions (southern california)

Woot Woot Just got my packet today!

Got into the University of Florida a few days ago, now to wait for U of M!

Hey guys, a lot of unis give honors college acceptances with the acceptance letters. I was wondering, is there an honors college at Umich for engineering? I have already been accepted but there is no mention about the honors program… So was i not considered for honors or Umich have a different system for the honors college?
