University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

hi all!

i am an international student who got accepted after being deferred. the news came as a shock to me because I’m international (from where i am at, they usually take in students with 2200s or 2300s) and my sat score was super low -less than 2100 superscored. with u of m being such a high ranked and great school, i literally screamed my lungs out when i got accepted! nonetheless, it happened, so I’m really thankful! i think great essays really helped me and maybe my extracurricular activities did too. anyone interested in my stats do let me know because i feel like its a miracle i got in. again I’m really thankful for u of m to have given me this chance! they chose me!

@lexi2901 i am international as well and have even much lower sat score 1990 and i got accepted so don’t consider it a miracle you deserved it.umich has holistic admissions so it isn’t about sat scores only.

where are you from ? will you attend umich ?

You guys think it’s worth staying up until midnight to see if the decisions are released?

Aren’t decisions released midnight Friday?

@rifraf‌ I’ll definitely be awake here in CA.

If you look at last years posts, it appears that there was a group of deferred that were accepted on Jan 31st and then another large group of early/regular that were accepted/rejected on March 14th, 2013. With early action, apps were due on Nov 1st and they provided decisions on Dec 19th. Regular Action was due on Feb 1st…so it makes sense that they would provide decision in mid-march…roughly the same timing for both early and regular.

I believe I stated this earlier but I’ll state it again… UM Admissions twitter is having an admitted students live chat to answer questions on Wed, Feb 25th. I think it would seem rather pointless to release decisions the following Friday as opposed to tomorrow for the next wave of decisions so the newly admitted can have a chance to participate in that chat as well. Also, in previous years they have had a record of releasing decisions on Friday’s every other week so tomorrow seems very likely.

I feel sure there will be a new wave tonight.

Does anyone know how many students typically receive a decision each wave? Or how many heard two weeks ago?
Really hoping to hear tomorrow.

Hope you’re right @ackack‌. The last decisions were released prior to our first semester grades being submitted. We see others with scholarship offers, honors program acceptances, and visits to the school for admitted students and it seems like most of the decisions have already been made.

Those of you that have been researching the old threads, do you know if decisions were released at midnight as in 3 hours from now East Coast?

Does anyone think decisions are going to come out at midnight tonight for RD applicants?

Two weeks ago, they apparently came out just after midnight. I didn’t know to check until I saw it on CC in the a.m. So it may be worth staying up. – But I was an EA applicant; don’t know for RD.

Just read up on last years thread. Unlikely for decisions tomorrow. I think another big wave mid-March and then many rejections/waitlists late march :frowning:

Where did you guys see that they released decisions every two weeks? I also checked last years thread and they did not do that either

Do they give admissions and rejections at the same time or are rejections notified at the end ?

Keeping my fingers crossed I get good need tonight!

*news

can umich just tell me I’m not accepted so i can stop stressing

@daxgrl351‌ There’s nothing more validating than being triple deferred!
