University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

what type decision are talking now, EA or RD already?

This is the EA thread.

only school of music had decision for RD?

@kitty1 No, apparently two Fridays ago they released some acceptances of some students that were deferred EA. We are assuming another wave of acceptances is coming out some time before April 1. Some people thought it might be today but seems like only a few Music students were accepted today. Based on history, mid March is more likely the time they may release some acceptances, but it varies every year so we really don’t know! How’s that for a definite maybe?

Still no decision… My D is just devastated. She stayed up until 3 in the morning to check her status… Guess we’ll have to wait until March

The “Next Step Reception” for in state admitted students meets from mid March to the end of March. That’s where students meet others admitted from their area. Detroit is on March 16, just the second day of receptions. It seems reasonable to believe that the vast majority of admitted students will find out before then, although the admissions office can notify into April.

just got decisions for EA? late?

I havenot seen any decisions as of 10 pm central today in wolverine access

@kitty1 No the people getting accepted (a few weeks back) were already DEFERRED EA and now have been accepted. We are waiting for the next wave but not sure when it is coming.

so the next decisions will be for the RD applicants or EA applicants can still get in because I applied EA and still haven’t heard

thank you!

@niboss96 if you haven’t heard yet there may have been a mix up with your application. You might want to double check your application status screen and make sure that you were approved for EA status. Doesn’t make sense that you haven’t heard EA if you were approved for EA status. Have you called them?

When you apply EA, it just means that some of them will be told they’re admitted before December 24th. After that I believe the EA applications are treated the same as the RD. Going forward any further decisions will likely include results for both sets of applicants.

Its been 3 weeks since the application deadline. I am a bit disappointed that they have not been able to release any decisions since then, especially for those EA deferrals.

@adkdad‌ same here. My D was deferred for the EA round, but hasn’t heard back yet… It seems as if she’s losing hope on Michigan!

Has anyone else done the HAIL interview for engineering? They say it doesn’t affect your application but I think it can help. You basically show the your side that isnt put in words on the app. I think if the interviewer gives you a good review then it can help.

@mattshamwow‌ I was accepted a day after my interview, so I doubt it factored into my admission decision. If, however, the interview report got to the committee within a sufficient amount of time before the decision release, then I think it would matter, although not too much.

Still waiting for UMich, already got into Purdue, but im a canadian, and don’t see Purdue as “great” school, want my UMich decision FAST!

Michigan’s decision process just seems so dragged out and like there’s no end to it, i’m getting really turned off and am no longer even anxious/excited about finding out whether i’ve been accepted after being deferred. Just wish they were more definite with their dates, for example I applied to University of Washington seattle and even though their decisions come out fairly late as well, they say that decisions WILL be mailed out March 15-31. Anyone else feel the same way?
