University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

God this process is so painful. Everyone I know already has their deposit in at their school and is applying for housing, finding roommates, etc. and I just sit here day after day waiting for this one school, that I probably wont even be able to afford, to reject me. They also have the arrogance to wait until late February and possibly not even until April to even begin rejecting people. All the while someone gets paid to type away at a computer posting vague but oh-so-cutesy gifs towards people asking serious questions on tumblr. Their BS even made me stay up an extra three hours just so I MIGHT, JUST MIGHT, hear back from them.

You never hear anything like “approximately 5000 decisions will be released tonight” or anything like that. It’s always “Oh we MIGHT put up some decisions SOMETIME SOON, but it doesn’t really matter to us because we know you’ll check anyway insert gif.”

Sorry for the rant I just needed this.

@JLaggot‌ you are so true!!! i completely agree

I’m heading for Aero Eng. Time to start a Purdue vs Mich Thread. Go Boilermakers!

@garda323‌ That thread already exists:p

@JLaggot‌ I did also mention the part about the annoying gifs  But, whatever. Glad someone shares my hatred for Michigan’s unprofessional attitude.

EVERYONE. Fate and destiny is a funny thing. The fact that Michigan deferred us. It may not be so funny right now, but when we are successful later on or attend a university perfectly suited for us, we will all look back at this moment and smile. It may sound cliche, but rejection or failure teaches us a lesson. A lesson of hope. A lesson that you should never be discouraged. Now, I expect every one of you to do great things out there. The world needs you.

General Comments: Early Action Deferred, Committed to Michigan, GO BLUE!

This is just a cat/mouse game they are playing with us now… I’ve had most of my acceptance for months now (applied EA), and UM’s excuses regarding the ‘largest EA applicant pool’ are just ridiculous. Not to mention, some of the people they deferred the first go around (people with 35 ACT AND 4.0 unweighted GPA) just shows how ludicrous this whole process is.

PS… Really sorry, and best wishes for those who were rejected tonight. I know you guys have worked hard and will find strong success in the future.

@HopefulWolverine‌ checked right after 12am! view decision was there after you clicked view application status

all of you guys are inspiring me and making me feel better.

@daxgrl351‌ Hang in there. No matter where you go, I can tell that you will be successful. With your positive attitude and can-do spirit, Michigan is losing a talented student.

Glad to know I’m not the only one infuriated by their unprofessional attitude… I understand that they my be trying to ease our stress, but geeeezzz, a gif or meme is not an acceptable way to answer the question of a student that is highly on edge. It just makes you come across as pretentious and apathetic (which they probably are).

One of my biggest pet peeves with UM is the whole “we are just sooooo much better than you” attitude. Yes, UM is one of, if not, the best public school in America, but at the end of the day, a school like OSU or MSU may just be a better fit for a student.

Ugh… Sorry for ranting, but this is just something I needed to get off of my chest. All that being said, I still do love UM wholeheartedly, but as of lately, I’ve just been getting really annoyed with them. I give up for tonight, but here’s to hoping they get their heads out of their rears and release another wave tonight. Good luck everybody.

can any admitted student help me with the housing.

is it based on first come first served basis.what i actually mean that the first students get allocated the housing of their choice
are all engineering students assigned north campus

all of you guys are inspiring me and making me feel better. thanks

@gard323. My son too! He’s almost ready to sign on the dotted line at Purdue! From everything he’s heard, kids are so happy there and from everything ive read, you guys will come out with more job offers than you will know what to do with! Boiler up!!

@Benf207‌ would you mind posting your stats? Are you OOS?

@garda323‌ @nosyla‌ My S may be joining you guys at Purdue as well. It’s really a great school. Just wish it was closer, and the OOS tuition is going to be much higher for us than UM.

@BSM1987‌ where are you from? Oh I guess I could answer that myself… Michigan? Lol. I’m assuming UMich would be in state for you?

if this means anything at all to any of you, I literally had the worst day ever. found out I need serious surgery for my lower back because of a car accident I had a few months back. but came back home tonight to find out about this decision. I know you might not care about my life at all, but there has to be a reason this happened to me and whatever is happening to you, and no matter how devastated or beat up you feel right now about this process (trust me, I know, I was in it since november), just have hope. I only wish the best for all of you here; we’ve all grown into our own little family. I’d like to thank everyone for all the support that I’ve received—you are all truly amazing individuals and no college acceptance is needed to affirm that. as my motto goes: head up, heart strong. best of luck to all of you! much love and go blue!
