University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

@uofmPlease I don’t think you emailing the adcoms would have any effect on your decision. As per your high-school, you maybe surprised at how well they may know it. I thought nobody was sent to the ivies from my school, and although that may be true, we have had athletes accepted there, I just don’t think anybody accepted on academic merit. Anyways, if they don’t know your school, they would have that school report anyways, and who knows maybe you add diversity!

I am wondering that too. If they have sent out rejections, why would they wait for a whole month before rejecting a few more? I’m not so sure about that theory…

There have been random rejections, but nothing like the early waves that were huge and filled with acceptances. We honestly haven’t had a big wave since what, early February?

THese Days… you need Oxymoron to Pimp A Butterfly.

Correct, @nat97xo‌. Its been a few decisions here and there. I wonder how big those waves are, considering a majority of us EA deferred still haven’t heard back ever since December

What if UMich is becoming test score oriented this year, thus the few rejections on CC as many of us would have high test scores by UofM standards?

@S0U10H03‌ so, we do have a pretty good chance?

I mean…? CC is only a small portion of the college applicant population. But people are posting from all over the world and often post when people they know irl get accepted/denied. Plus, people are stalking social media for any news they can find. I feel confident in saying that more acceptances have been released than rejections.

@collegeplease123 honestly, I hope so. I have a 33 ACT and that is UMich’s 75% mark, so why shouldn’t I expect to get in, even as an international applying to LSA as a math major? Would be surprised.

Actually, CC probably isn’t that small… Pretty large, actually.

Isn’t international more difficult? Whatever, hoping we get in, bud!!

@collegeplease123 Actually I partially agree with @nat97xo Though it is small however, I still believe that there have been quite a few rejections. I think we are overthinking this, maybe they haven’t read our applications.

@collegeplease123 yea I know internationals are harder, but since the 75th percentile is a 33, I am expecting an acceptance, unless maybe my essays sucked, but I have been told that they are neutral, won’t get me in, but won’t keep me out.

I’ve been having a series of internal conflicts, doubting that I’ll get in and vice versa… Oh the admissions process

@S0U10H03‌ Definitely true. You gotta think of all the people who applied to umich among thier 14 other colleges (or whatever number) and didn’t get in, but aren’t too upset simply because umich wasn’t their top choice. I’m sure this is the case for a lot of applicants. They wouldn’t have spent as much time on the application, and they certainly wouldn’t have felt they need to report back to the CC forums, or even follow them to begin with.

Thing… things just aint the same no moreee.

@uofmPlease I’m actually one of those people, however, since the decisions are nearing, I came here cuz manz got nothing to do.

@uofmPlease‌ excellent point. But what can you do…? Strange, but we all learn something from our decision, no matter how negative or positive.

What exactly do we learn??? How to love our safeties?
