Deferred EA and then wait listed today. Man, being on three waitlists just makes me feel a mixture of sadness and tiredness.
Son applied on Oct 31st EA to LSA, deferred on Dec 19th and accepted last night. Long wait it was!
Wait listed after applying in October! Oh well! It was a long ride, can’t say I’m happy with the outcome, but I’m glad it’s over.
Rejected
WHY IS WA DOWN. this is reduce
rejected, oos. Congrats to all those who got accepted.
There are some colleges that have a policy to never wait-list students who were deferred in the early round. They just give a final decision: accept or reject so that the students aren’t in the position of having to wait again. I think MIchigan should adopt that policy. It’s torture to be deferred and then wait-listed. But on the other hand, some of those wait-listed students may get in. Michigan announced early last fall that they expect to be accepting a bunch of students off the wait-list.
Wait listed.
Rejected…oh well i think i was moreover considering UWisco anyways
Waitlisted - that just means rejected, right? My friend was trying to tell me how it wasn’t really a rejection but I’m pretty sure this is their version of a rejection. Honestly wasn’t even upset, already put my deposit down at OSU (Go Bucks!) because I had a strong feeling this was coming and I was never going to be able to afford it. Congrats to everyone who was accepted and to everyone who wasn’t - we’re all in this together and you’re going to be so happy wherever you land next fall even if it might not feel like it right now! It’s been a long wait for all of us deferred EA kids and we all deserved admissions for just putting up with this. Much love, the CC community has been a huge help through everything.
hey guys, I have a question for you all, and I would really appreciate if you had any insight to provide me. michigan has been my first choice for the last year or so but the financial aid has not come through. I recently just got into UCLA and Berkeley (coming from OOS California) and my parents are definitely looking at those because of the instate tuition. from each of the two UCs, I’ve received pell grants and gift aid for a total of around $20k per school. how much do you think michigan could probably provide me? I am still 100% on board with michigan, but slowly losing hope because of this money issue…again, any insight would be so insightful. thank you so much.
@cnwu15 if you got into Berkeley Go!!!

Honestly I was almost certain that I would get waitlisted. I was sooooo happy when I saw that I got in! Congratulations to all those who got in. I guess I’ll see you next year!
Don’t lose hope if you were waitlisted I heard that they would accept many people from the waitlist this year.
And if you were rejected, it’s Michigan’s loss.
Congratulations to everyone who got in last night! I was deferred EA and put in the waitlist last night. Apparently UMich is not gonna give us a decision until June (according to what they say in our waitlisted notification on WA), I definitely should put my enrollment deposit in one of my other options. So I am asking what if, just what if I were lucky enough to be selected from waitlist and I think UMich is the place I wanna go and still decide to attend, will the school I put my enrollment deposit in do anything to me or will anything of mine would be hurt or affected because of that? Due to the amount of financial aid my backup school offers me I am sort of afraid that would hurt my “portfolio history” when I look for a job after graduation or whatsoever.
I talked to my college counselor about the same thing and she just said that the only bad thing about hearing back i june is that you will not get your deposit back from the school. She said that the school knows and understands that this may happen so they dont take it personally, they just move onto their waitlist when you decline.
@evaldes13 Thanks a lot. I kind of wondering what does other waitlisted students WA view decision page looks like after you accept the waitlist offer cos mine shows blink afterwards. And the official email i just received from UMich sort of looks like a rejection letter because it starts with “we regret to inform you…not able to offer you place…” but with the waitlist offer link underneath, but WA clearly stated that I was offerred as waitlisted. Is that how all waitlisted students email and WA like or just mine? I am so confused now.
@becky8899, we got the same letter. The mention of the wait list is toward the very end. At least on WA it was only one paragraph so you noticed the wait list right away. I’m glad we saw the WA first.
@BSM1987 Yeah me too. It really confused me tho. So your view decision page shows as blink after accepting the waitlist offer as well?
I went to check and yes, the view decision page is blank. Someone else mentioned the same thing.
@becky8899 Yeah I thought that was bizarre too. It sounded very much like a rejection letter but it did mention that I was given a waitlist offer so that’s all that matters I guess. I accepted my position on the waitlist immediately when I got my decision at midnight and my page is blank too. I assume it’s blank because now that we’re waitlisted, there will be an acceptance/rejection decision that will eventually be the blank space.
